MARIE - BEFORE
It was December 3rd and miraculously four inches of snow had fallen overnight, meaning school was closed for the day. Snow wasn't common, not this thick so the fields alongside the woods where me and Beth decided to walk Pingu, were swarming with kids. The fields were perfect for sledging; steep and bumpy, everyone was shouting and laughing revelling in the rare treat.
We'd only been walking for half an hour, but my feet were soggy in my wellies, and my hands stiff from the cold under my knitted gloves. Beth's cheeks were a bright red, and I think the novelty of the beautiful snow was starting to wear off us both.
As we made our way towards the edge of the field, heading back into the woods; my head snapped forward as something solid hit the back of it.
"Fuck!" I cursed spinning round, grabbing my head. Stood only a few metres away, a huge smirk plastered on his face was Andy. I did my best to muster up a dirty look, but honestly the sight of him stood in his dark jeans and hoodie; seemingly immune to the cold, surrounded by his friends made it hard.
I couldn't tell if it was deliberate from him or if I was an accidental casualty in their snowball fight."Sorry 'bout that love." His broad accent coming through. I heard Beth murmur something about a dick faced jerk under her breath as his friends sniggered and continued their snow ball fight, but before I could say anything he got there first; "Cute dog." He remarked pointing slightly at Pingu who had wandered back to my side after realising we hadn't followed. His lips quirked back into a smirk before he turned and walked off.
