Let us walk now afresh in voluntary submission
voices are rising ( and falling ) the sea still so calm
now just allowed for so long forbidden territory
distancing sand and sea while in crowded shops
people roam freely
birds echo magi in crowned resolution
hear the screaming earth
caught in the claws of raw contradictions
Let us walk confused in confusion in
confined deconfinement deconfined confinement
where pundits and bandits set limits
defined undefined and laces done unwound
with corona meandering between the grids
Let us walk with infamous walkers that foul
the very word and stain water and earth
same old lies new disguise
greedy ticks in tax paradise
sucking workers' blood and lives
in daily floods of inequity
Let us shop in hot spots again with open minds
masks unavailable but compulsory
let us buy till we drop and die like flies
in sumptuous lies satisfy your hunger
and drink the poisonous broth
And let us fly again in planes bright green
environmentally friendly
reaching havens of dream in tourist elation
revelling amidst native deprivation
For indeed there will be time to ponder
and wonder about the nets they' ve stretched
from horizon to horizon eternally
And we know all the transactions
the shares the crucifixions as we watch
the aims waver and stutter
Here comes another day as old as new
as people stammer in the throes of dismay
and tear time off the ropes of sleazy play
and the sky thunders but hears not the beggars
the lamp in the room watches the bleeding hours
the bitter taste of madness dots your naked arms
with flags of glory thrashing the darkless night
and behind the windows trees are dropping tears
of transparent time and workers dismantled
stand and stare in disarray
as dear old Beckett said
when in the shit just sing and stay
and the wind is roaring and the dead are rising
and the sea so still so calm still wavers
