Halfway through speaking he was knocked to the floor. A hooded figure pinned him down, a wide sinister smile adorning the only showing part of their face. The trainee hunters and huntresses jumped up at this intrusion, ready to help their comrade. Collectively they reached for their weapons, stances indicating they were ready to pounce. Some held up their weapons to aim, others getting ready to attack straight-on. Fingers on triggers, knees bent, they all prepared to attack the intruder.

Unexpectedly the figure started laughing. It could have almost been unnerving had it not had a sense of true joy about it. "Hi Qrow! You miss me?" The figure spoke happily.

"...HUH?" Everyone gawked in surprise.

"You know this person, Uncle Qrow?" Ruby spoke up, glancing at her teammates with confusion who responded with the same emotion present on their faces.

The man himself sighed and muttered, "I don't have the energy for you right now."

"Aw what?" The person jumped off him and their body wilted in a sad shrug. "You aren't happy to see me?"

Qrow stood up too and brushed off his clothes before turning to them. He rolled his eyes, "I'm never happy to see you."

"RUDE!" The person held their arm up pointing straight at his face. They huffed, crossed their arms and turned away. "Is that any way to greet an old friend after all this time?"

Qrow straightened and suddenly appeared serious, placing a hand on their shoulder to forcefully turn them round to face himself and the group. He looked into their shadow-cast face and carefully took down their hood. A woman was revealed underneath, gorgeous (H/L), (H/C) hair and (E/C) eyes blazing beautifully. Qrow sighed looking into her face, before removing himself from her and turning away to take a sip out of his canteen. The woman watched him do so intently, eyebrows creased in a frown. Once he finished taking a sip he spoke up sorrowfully, "I don't know. Are you a friend?"

The woman seemed to be taken aback but collected herself quickly, taking a deep breath and putting her hand on his shoulder, replicating what he did to her earlier. She stared into his eyes, hers begging him to see that she was being honest. "Yes. I am a friend. I always have been."

He sighed looking down and ran a hand through his dishevelled dark hair. He turned away from her walking towards the team, nodding to them to indicate them to relax which they quickly did - apparent by the cacophony of clicking from dismantling their weapons back into their neutral positions. He stood in front of them and swivelled back to face her, crossing his arms. "So then, friend." He emphasized the word sarcastically which didn't go unnoticed by anyone, particularly the young woman. "What are you doing here?"

She stared at him before letting her gaze flow over the rest of the group, matching each of their curious stares with her own intrigued gaze. "It's not like you to work with anyone else, Qrow. Let alone a whole group. I didn't think you played well with others." She cocked her head to the side. "And they seem so young too."

All the younger people stiffened at her words, some gritting their teeth distrustfully. Qrow wasn't impressed by her words. "The situation demanded it." Then less seriously he turned his face away to ignore her, knowing the effect it would have. He closed his eyes and allowed a smirk to emerge from the corners of his mouth. "Besides, it's not like it's any of your business."

The woman seemed to still for a second before jumping in front of him pointing her finger in his face again, a cross pout being expressed on her face. "Hey! Of course it's my business, now tell me what's going on!"

He kept his head facing away from her and reached his arms up lazily to reach for his neck, resting them there. By this point the group behind him could see his smirk and could feel the intensity of the previous situation get washed away with his playfulness. He cracked an eye, showing a mischievous glint as he rolled it to look at her in his peripheral vision. His lips practically popped out his next word. "Nope."

The woman shook as she got riled up, pout transforming to blowing her cheeks out. "Oi. Just because you're mad I got the jump on you, doesn't mean you have to be a little bitch about it."

Qrow opened his eyes at this before narrowing them at her, falling for her taunt and moving his face within inches of hers. "I let you have it. I felt sorry for you that I've beat you so many times. Thought I'd let you catch up."

"Bullshit." She mumbled, glaring at him intensely.

"Oi, watch your mouth." He gestured around them. "Kids."

She stiffened again noticing the amount of watchful eyes on them before jumping up and down in excitement, tugging on his arm. "Ooh! Are you going to introduce me to your friends?"

He sighed exasperatedly before muttering a defeated "Fine!" before continuing with a mumble of "I told you I didn't have enough energy for you right now."

The hunter straightened and looked over the group, waving a hand in front of the woman, keen to get this over with. "Everyone this is (Y/N), she's a huntress that has worked with Beacon on multiple occasions." He then gestured to the two girls closest, "(Y/N) these are my two nieces, Ruby and Yang" Then gestured behind them to the rest of the group, "And their teammates Blake and Weiss. Behind them are Jaune, Nora, Ren, Oscar and Maria."

He crashed onto the sofa exhausted. "That's it I'm done." Before taking another swig out of his canteen and leaning his head back to relax.

(Y/N) watched him with a smile, rolling her eyes. "Such a drama queen." Before she remembered her new discoveries and practically jumped on the group members, radiating excitement. "Oh it's so nice to finally meet you girls! I've heard so much about you!" She crushed Ruby and Yang in a hug, squeezing them tightly before letting them go enough so she could look at them. She observed Yang and then Ruby, both slightly hesitant at her assessment of them. She danced around them as she spoke gushing over them. "Yang, your hair is so beautiful, it's the lushest I've ever seen." Hearts could practically be seen popping out of her eyes before she gazed into Ruby's intently again. "And Ruby, your eyes. They're incredible." Her seriousness quickly faded as she crushed them in another hug, "Such beautiful girls and huntresses too! Your mothers would be so proud." They both stiffened at this and the energy in the room seemed to mirror this. One of the girls seemed curious while the other held clearly less pleasant emotions. (Y/N) waved her hand at them to calm them, "But remember, our parents' choices and fates are not our own. We alone decide our actions, the control over our destinies is ours and no one else's."

The sisters seemed struck dumb by this statement. (Y/N) quickly spun round dismissing them and launched over to their two teammates. "So you are their teammates, huh? Oh I LOVE your kitty ears, they're awesome. Bet you've got amazing balance, right? And WOW look at your sword. Dainty but deadly... I like it!"

She continued with this excited frenzy, bounding eagerly to the remnants of team JNPR, finishing with admiring Ren's samurai-like aura. She turned her head to look at the next person to be under her scrutiny and stilled before jumping up if possible more excitedly than she already was, "GRANNY!"

This exclamation captured everyone's attention in surprise at her familiarity with another of their group. The elderly woman herself sighing tiredly, "I didn't think I'd have to deal with you again in this lifetime you troublemaker."

(Y/N) wasn't fazed and smiled happily, "I missed you Granny and I know you missed me too, don't deny it!"

Maria sighed again, seeming to age another ten years. "I agree with Qrow, I don't have the energy for you." This elicited a loud victorious chuckle from the man, who pumped a fist triumphantly.

Again (Y/N) wasn't fazed and rested her hand on Maria's shoulder, gazing into her goggles endearingly. She spoke softly this time, "It really is good to see you, Granny."

Maria rolled her eyes but couldn't help the small smile that blossomed on her face tilting her head and shaking it playfully. (Y/N) smiled wider at this and turned her attention to the next person in the queue. She stiffened slightly, the group watching intrigued as her entire being seeming to lose all the enthusiasm she has just radiated. (Y/N) cocked her head, eyes holding curiosity and she walked slowly over to the boy and knelt in front of him, gazing into his hazel eyes. "You are Oscar, right?"

The boy blushed at her closeness and nodded shyly. She smiled sadly before continuing, "Is Ozpin in there too? Can I speak to him?"

The room became so silent that you could have heard a pin drop.
