"If you, yourself, decided something ridiculous, what would it be?" John said
John spoke to Michel in the dark abyss.
"Can it be anything?" Michel said
"Depends..."
"Hmm... Then, it would be the weakest wielding both unknown knowledge and weapon in a medieval or fantasy setting." Michel said
"What makes you think of that?" John asked
"Well, to rise from oppression, I guess..."
"But what if it was given to the wrong hands?"
"Then give it to the protagonist!"
"Everyone is the main character of their own stories, remember? How will you pick your protagonist then?"
"Hmm... That's a tough one..."
Michel thought about the question deeply. As he found the answer, he snapped his fingers.
"I'm looking for a protagonist that is not powerful, not a noble, neither a righteous man nor villainous one, does not feel pleasure through or from violence, lack of ambition, doesn't want to stand out, laid-back...-ish, and has a balanced virtue."
"Balance? Why not good or outstanding?"
"Then, that protagonist is most likely going to be used. I don't wanna spend my time cleaning up their mess afterwards." Michel sighed deeply as he said that.
"Remember, greed and stupidity is greater than the universe." Michelle continued.
"Heh. Well said, my friend." John said as he patted Michel's back.
"So, your protagonist is a mob, an extra is every perspective of every protagonist." John asked.
"Exactly!"
"But then, he won't survive! He's not even powerful! He will live short and you will lose your chance to pick a hero of the era, the protagonist of the century or something."
"At this rate, I might die in boredom thanks to you wasting this opportunity..." John said as lay down at the dark, cold floor.
"He's not gonna die. He will live in his own ways."
Michel stood up and opened his arms wide.
"Say, how 'bout we make a bet?"
"Heh, You? In the losing side? Interesting! How will you win though if your character will die in the beginning?" says John.
"Like I said, he will live and survive in his own ways, decision, and guts. I don't need to guide him. Besides, I already thought of the person." replied Michel.
"What is the name of your chosen MC?" asked John.
"Amano."
