I opened my eyes to see the brunette woman from next door. Slowly, I sat up so we're at the same level.
"Hi, I'm Elizabeth! I just saw you sleeping on your porch and wondered if you'd like to sleep at my place tonight? I know it's sorta weird because we don't know each other but you'll be safer in my house rather than on your porch" she said.
"Alright" I replied back. While walking to her house, I needed to think of a quick excuse as to why I was sleeping on my porch without making my parents look bad.
As she's about to open the door, she asked me "Can you tell me why you were sleeping on your porch?"
"Uh...I um, went home from trick or treating and of course, the door was locked, I didn't have the house key, and my parents couldn't hear me knocking."
"Oh that's horrible! Well I hope you're comfortable with sleeping here tonight!"
We walked in and there was a teenage boy holding up his phone and saying "Watch my new vine, blah blah blah" while the other teenage boy and a little girl were running around.
"Nash, Hayes, Skylynn! Come here." Elizabeth called, "this is..." she gestured to me.
"Juliet" I said.
"She'll be staying with us for tonight because she got locked out of her house and her parents couldn't hear her knocking on the door".
There were "Hey, I'm Nash", "I'm Hayes!", and "Hi, I'm Skylynn! Do you wanna play with my horsies?" that followed.
"So Nash is the oldest one, Hayes is second, and duh Skylynn's the little girl" I thought.
"Hey I'm Will" said a tall man, "I'm the oldest." I guess I was wrong.
They took me to their guest room then I laid down on the bed. Slowly, my eyes shut, causing me to be fast asleep.

All of a sudden I heard laughter down the hall. I got off of the bed and opened the door then a nerf went flying past me. "Oh sorry!" Hayes said, "did we wake you up?"
"No worries and yeah kinda...but I'm not upset." I was used to being woken up in the middle of the night and it feels great for someone to apologize.
As I was turning around to head back to the bed, Hayes spoke up "Hey do you wanna play?"
"Um, I guess." This was all new to me. My parents never let me do anything fun. Heck, they didn't even let me lay down on my bed and question my life!
Hayes gave me the nerf gun, he explained to me that I was in a team with him and Will and we're fighting Nash, Skylynn, and their friend, Cameron, who I didn't even notice so now I feel bad. We got 5 seconds to run and hide. Hayes grabbed my hand and we ran to a closet. We were tightly packed inside that closet then I awkwardly loosened the grip on my hand, realizing that my hand was still locked in his hand.
The other team won, mostly because Hayes and I were not even helping. Soon, I barely kept my eyes opened. I was too exhausted so I called it a night.

"Juliet, it's time for breakfast." I heard someone say while knocking on the door. It sounded like Hayes.
That was probably the best sleep I've ever had.
We ate pancakes then decided that I needed to get home.
Elizabeth knocked on the door then my mom answered shortly after.
"Good morning! Sorry to disturb you, I'm Elizabeth!" Elizabeth greeted, "Your daughter told me that last night, she was locked out of your house 'cause she didn't have any key and you couldn't hear her knocking on the door so she slept on your porch then I saw her and let her sleep at my place."
"Oh I'm so sorry for any trouble but I very much appreciate you doing that." My mom said, trying to sound as sweet as she could.
"My pleasure. She's such a sweetheart! Well I better go, have a great day." Elizabeth replied.
"You too! Oh I forgot to introduce myself, I'm Suzanna, very nice to meet you!" They shook hands with huge grins then Elizabeth went back to her house that's filled with joy.
When Elizabeth was out of sight, mom dragged me by my ear inside. "HAPPY? NOW I CAN'T KICK OUT OF THIS HOUSE BECAUSE 'LITTLE MISS PERFECT MOM' WILL LET YOU IN HER HOUSE! HAPPY?! YOU MAKE EVERYONE'S LIFE WAY WORSE THAN IT SHOULD BE. YOU ARE SUCH A PAIN, I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE AN ADULT SO WE WON'T HAVE YOU STAY HERE ANYMORE. NO ONE WOULD EVER WANT YOU. YOU.ARE.WORTHLESS." she yelled. It hurts me seeing how upset she is with me.
"Why?! Why do you hate me? It's not my fault that I'm here on this Earth. You could've just given me away. Maybe if that happened, we'd both be happy! Those people, those people cared enough to take me in last night. ONE NIGHT with people I've NEVER met and that's the most anyone has cared for me. Though, I am thankful that...atleast they cared." warm tears were spilling from my eyes when I said this. I was proud that for the first time in forever, I said what I truly felt but at the same time, I was afraid with the result of it.
