Kaiya woke up to a gentle shake and opened her eyes to see her moms gentle smile looking down on her.
"Happy 19th birthday, my love"
I groaned, "mom, dont remind me" and tossed my blanket to the floor as mom stood up off my bed.
"I know honey but I made your favorite"
I glanced at my mother as I was grabbing my things for a morning shower. I cant be more thankful I look like her with her flowing wavy dark brown locks, bright green eyes and olive skin tone. I gave her a smile.
"Thanks mom, I'll be right down"
She gave me a smile that didn't quite reach her eyes as she left my room.
I quickly hopped into the shower so I can eat before having our normal mom and daughter day. You see my father has never been in my life and frankly mom doesnt talk about him. So every year to make my birthday extra special we have a mom and daughter date. This year we are going to a spa.
I quickly hop out of the shower and towel dry my natural light brown curls and throw on my outfit of the day and jog down the stairs for breakfast. My favorite, french toast.
Right as I start digging in my mom sita next to me and sighs. "Kaiya we have to talk. It's about your father"
