A/N: This scene from season three is fucking adorable and somebody needed to make it into a fic. Okay have a gay day!

To say that she was shocked, would be an understatement. Originally, Betty had found a world in which someone would willingly give their life for her, unfathomable. She hadn't believed it was possible for even her parents to care this deeply, let alone her best friend. However, Veronica had grabbed what was believed, by the four, to be a fatal chalice of poison and without hesitation chugged it in an effort to spare Betty, even if it meant Veronica's own demise. When questioned as to why she did it, her response was simply, "Because I love you B."

So, while it had turned out in the end that all of the chalices had been poisoned, Betty was still graced with knowing that Veronica would die for her. Sadly, as much as she had wished to speak with the raven-haired girl about this, the night had continued, bringing more trauma as it did. So, after surviving the night, they had all chosen to take a few days to recover.

During these days, the question as to whether Betty would do the same for Veronica, had an answer that became clear as a sky with no clouds. Yes. Yes, Betty Cooper would willingly give her life for her best friend. Why? Well, at first, Betty wasn't quite sure. All she had known was that the answer involved love and quite possibly feelings that were not platonic, which at the time, Betty didn't fully understand. Or at least she hadn't understood until the memory of the cheerleading kiss resurfaced, it then dawned on her.

At first, the thought had sent the blonde girl into a full blown panic attack. She, Betty Cooper, was in love with her best friend, Veronica Lodge, and when Veronica so willingly drank from that chalice, she had Betty swooning. Really, how had she not seen it before? Veronica had always made her blush, had always made her feel happy and special. Nobody had done that before ever. So, she supposed that is why she didn't recognize what her feelings truly were; she had never felt that way before. With this revelation, Betty became even more set on speaking with the girl.

It was mid-afternoon on a Thursday, about a week into summer, when Betty finally got to see Veronica for the first time since that insane night. As she walks into the welcoming, familiar diner, she scans the place for Veronica, noticing that their usual booth was occupied by someone else. When she finally spots Veronica, they make eye contact.

Falling under the intensity of Veronica's gaze for the first time in what feels like forever, causes Betty to blush. She walks over to the brunette and sits across from her, the way Veronica's face had lit up just by seeing Betty, still burnt into her memory. "Hey Betts!" Her best friend said, enthusiastically. Betty felt butterflies at the way Veronica was so excited to see her. "Hey Ronnie!" She replied, sounding just as happy. It's like electricity surges throughout her body when Veronica grabs her hands across the table, interlacing their fingers. They both smiled sweetly at each other and Betty figured, it's now or never. "Veronica, can we talk?" "Yeah Betts. What is it?" Betty looked at her, eyes scanning her expression, wondering how the question would change it. "It's..."

The blonde inhaled, knowing that the upcoming conversation, would lead to her confessing her feelings for her raven-hair bestie. After taking a second or so more to prepare herself, she asked, "I was wondering if we could talk about what happened the other night, in the woods, during your quest?" As soon as she mentioned the woods, she had heard the other girls breath hitch and seen a blush spreading across her cheeks. And oh wow, Veronica certainly did look cute with the red staining her face.

The words hung in the air for a moment before the raven-haired girl responded. "I stand by what I did and what I said. I would definitely die for you, without hesitation, because I just love you so goddamn much." It was now Betty's turn to blush. Unfathomable. Betty loved her just as much, maybe more, but hopefully not; she didn't want her confession to ruin their friendship. However, being that Veronica was currently single and Betty and Jughead had quietly and mutually ended things on that night, now was the perfect time to clear her conscience.

"V, I need to tell you something," the silence and a nod of encouragement from the brunette showed her it was okay to continue, "I love you too, so much that I would do the same as you proved for you'd do for me. However," Betty hesitated. She noticed something alter in Veronica's expression. It seemed she had become nervous, though that was probably due to the "However" Betty had left hanging in the air. "What is it B?" Veronica looked concerned now, she must have noticed the blonde's own nervous expression.

Veronica gave Betty's hand a little squeeze(they had never let go of each other), to comfort the girl. Betty smiles at this action, then takes a deep breath, continuing what she was saying before, "That love, as I have discovered, has gone much, much farther than platonic."

A look of shock appeared on the other girl's face. "Betty, are you saying...?" She questioned, trailing off towards the end. Betty finished her sentence and answered her question with, "That I'm in love with you V? Because god yes I am and everyday I think of you and your beautiful face with those deep brown eyes and your cute little nose, resting above your stunning smile. Everyday I wish I could wake up next to you and kiss you good morning. Everyday I wish I could kiss you goodbye when we part ways. Every damn day I wish I could tell you how much I love you because the truth is, I love you Veronica Lodge and I always will." She watched Veronica's jaw drop.

When the girl finally responded it was not with words, but rather actions. Betty felt her lips collide with the raven-haired beauty for the second time in her life. However this kiss was soft and sweet, unlike the rushed and spiteful one they shared before. Their first had all been for show, but now? Now it holds meaning and love.

Betty sunk into the kiss, feeling like the world was disappearing around her. All there was in that moment was Veronica and her. All there was were the fireworks exploding in Betty's mind, the heat erupting in her skin, the soothing feeling of Veronica caressing her left cheek gently, the way Veronica's hair felt in her fingers. She smiled into the kiss and felt the brunette do the same.

Betty was walking on air and she didn't think things could get any better until Veronica pulled away saying, "I love you too."

That's when Betty decided that the truly unfathomable thing in her life, is how she had gotten so lucky to meet Veronica.
