Open your eyes. Open your eyes. Open your eyes.

I don't want to miss this, oh I don't want to miss it, oh just open your eyes. My eyes flutter open, and color floods my senses. The gasp from my lips causes someone next to me to chuckle. He smiles down on me and takes my chin in his hands.

Oh right, I'm still grey. The clothes are grey, my hair, my lips, even my skin is a dull grey. But the beauty of the world around me, I can't help but feel out of place. Is this what we no longer have? Is this what lacks in our world. Who is this man?

"What are you afraid of?" he whispers gently.

I scramble back as panic fills my senses. He spoke, he spoke. A small guttural sound escapes my lips as I slump forward into his arms. Panic surges through my veins as he holds me close.

"I hate this part, just worry it's going to be okay, you'll remember, you'll remember this time, just breathe."

My head is spinning, he can talk, he talked, he said the words. I gasp and look down at my wrist, he said those words.

"Adrian." I breathe deeply.

He embraces me and lets out a relieved laugh. "Oh God I missed you, you've been gone for days I didn't know when you'd come back."

Words still leave a sour feeling in my mouth. I try to share with those feelings of love that rush to my heart. Like always, he turns this beautiful pink color in his cheeks and rests his cheek on my head. "I still can't get used to the way that feels."

Oh his voice is just like velvet. His eyes are the most beautiful hazel, and that curly brown hair, the sun kissed tan skin. I look around me and take in the colors of all the flowers, there are just too many colors to remember.

"I forgot so many colors, everything is just so overwhelming." I whisper.

Looking back at him, his smile looks just a little more sad. "I keep forgetting this isn't your world too."

I smile lightly and run a small grey hand through his hair. I get to enjoy this place with him, so it's okay. Hazy memories of dreams spent here with him run through my head and butterflies fill my chest. We lie down and look at the sky, his arm draped around my shoulders.

"Remember anything special about today?" His voice sounds timid, he seems nervous.

I shake my head and grab hold of his hand. Nothing about the real world really makes sense when I'm here, nothing ever changes there, nothing is ever,

"New" I whisper.

He doesn't look away from the sky, but his chest stops moving. I sit up slightly, my long straight grey hair drapes around us. "There was someone new today," my voice cracks, "How did you do it?" My voice is barely a squeak.

He sighs and looks towards me. "Don't worry about it Emily, I have things under control." He flinches and pulls away. "Stop doing that I don't want to feel the bad things."

I shake my head and try pulling him closer. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, it's just a habit. What are you doing in my world? I still can't remember, you promised when you'd wait until I can remember."

The color starts leaving his lips, grey traveling to his cheeks and his eyes.I begin to panic as the color around me begins to disappear again. Adrian kisses my lips and looks me in the eyes.

"Just keep trying to remember, I'm coming for you. It'll be okay, I promise."
