For the past two weeks, Chase and Madi have made it a habit of seeing each other as often as possible. They would hang out at night when Chase was done with training, and Madi was finished volunteering at the hospital after school. This was their favorite part of the day. They would cuddle on the couch and steal kisses from each other from time-to-time. They talked about everything and nothing. They took everything the other had to offer and indulged in it. Chase has never experienced anything like this with a girl. She made him want to keep her happy and smiling. He loved so much about her, but his heart absolutely melted at the way she would throw her head back to laugh, and the way her braids would brush against her neck. He wanted to care for her and cherish her. She made him feel complete.

Friday night was no different from their newfound routine. After they ate dinner, they moved to the couch and let a movie play in the background while they talked. Madi currently had her head on Chase's chest as he ran his fingers up and down her spine. She loved it when he touched her.

"Why did you start fighting?" Madi asked suddenly.

He was surprised at the question. Fighting has never been a sensitive topic to Chase, the question as to why he picked it up is entirely different though. However, he knew he could tell her. Madi meant so much to him already, she deserved to know that part of him as well. So, he began by telling her that he was only eighteen when he started fighting. He'd been a senior in high school at the time and his mom had just been diagnosed with breast cancer. He had to work several jobs in order to pay off the medication and the treatments. After a couple of months, his mother eventually lost the battle to cancer and he had been so devastated and lost. He dropped out of school and started going to fighting rings, as a way to cope. One thing led to another and now, six years later, he's really made a name for himself, as he's one of the best fighters. At the end of his story, he was embarrassed to meet Madi's eyes; he was embarrassed she would think he's pathetic. On the contrary, Madi felt so proud of him, because he'd been through a lot, yet accomplished so much.

She tilted his head so that he was facing her, "You're so brave, Chase." Madi confidently stated gazing into his eyes. "I admire that about you."

They stayed in silence for the following minutes as they absorbed the intensity of the moment. Chase had opened up to her about the hardest struggles he's had to face in his life. Struggles he didn't reveal to his closest friend, Heath, until years into their friendship. And now she knew the darkest part of him and wanted to stay.

He pulled her in and kissed her. This kiss felt so much more different than the other times they've kissed. It was raw; like Madi was absorbing everything he had said into herself and was accepting it, turning it into nothing but pure passion.

Not breaking the kiss, Chase sat up more comfortably and brought Madi with him so she was now straddling him. His hands reached for the bottom of her shirt- one of his shirts actually that he'd given to her to substitute for the usual oversized sweaters she likes to wear- and pulled it over her head with no protest on her end. Gripping her hips, he rubbed her rough against his erection. The thin fabric of Chase's black gym shorts and the friction from Madi's denim shorts caused them both to pull back from the kiss and moan.
