The King's Prince | A Hinata x Kageyama fanfic

Part 1

Kageyama's POV

Why is it always me? 

I've never before felt... this... this joy... I don't even know what this is...

What is this...? Why...? Why me?

Last time I tried to feel this...

(Flashback)

I jumped and hit the ball, but something was off... I heard the ball hit the floor, but didn't see it on the opposing team's side.

I slowly turned around and found that no one had even attempted to spike my set.

(End of flashback)

Why...? Every time... Why...?

Someone was calling my name, but I didn't hear them. I couldn't.

"...-yama! Kageyama!! Look!! I'm here!!"

I looked up and saw that speedy little bird flying across the court. 

"I'm here!"

"....-eyama... Kageyama~"

I was startled out of my dream, suddenly realising I had fallen asleep in the break room.

I looked up to see the whole of the Karasuno volleyball team, minus Coach Ukai, standing over me.

"Gya! How long've I been asleep?! Did I miss practice?!" I asked, jumping up and bonking my head in my hurry.

"Ow...."

"You're fine, but you missed about ten minutes of practice. Coach is in the gym." Sugawara said after I calmed down a bit.

"Right... "

"Why'd you fall asleep, anyways? I thought you were excited for practice today?" I heard Hinata's voice, and it reminded me of my dream. It pissed me off that I couldn't be in complete control...

"None of your business, dumba**!" I snarled, before going out into the gym.

I guess he thought I would kill him if he bugged me much more, so he left me relatively alone, other than his usual "Toss to me!" I probably would have. We'll never know.

After practice was over, it was Daichi's turn to pack up, so he made us leave the gym and go home.

"Man, now we can't practice..." Hinata was sulking on the way home.

I began to walk faster so I didn't have to listen to it, but he sped up to match my speed, and more. We kept trading off like that until we were in our usual race.

Somehow, though, this one was slightly different. 

I felt... happy... Not competitive, just... happy...

What is happening to me?!
