For the first time since I've been here I think I actually like the dress that I'm wearing. It's a mermaid silhouette that's light brown and fades into a dark brown the further down the skirt. My mask is modeled after a deer. It's fully painted gold. One of the same servants that has been catering to me through my stay helps me with my makeup and hair. She goes light on the makeup since half of my face will be covered. She puts my hair in a tight bun with framing pieces around my face. When she brings me to a mirror it's almost hard to recognize myself.
"I know I'm not supposed to speak with you since it's my job to be silent but I think you look really beautiful," She tells me. I lightly laugh.
"It's fine, thank you. Through my whole stay here I never learned your name." She looks down shyly and says,
"My name is Sarah." I smile at her and put a hand on her shoulder.
"It was my pleasure to be with you. Are you coming to the coronation tonight?"
"I'll be working. I'm serving drinks tonight." I nod and make note to say hi to her. She shuffles out of the room and leaves me with my thoughts. I touch the mirror with a gloved hand. I go over the plan in my head.
I'll behave like a normal party guest, dancing, chatting, and whatever else. Then when the coronation roles around I go on stage when called and wait for the chaos. It's funny to think about, really. This all started when we were trying to avoid chaos but now that's all we built up to.
We've truly come full circle.
A knock sounds from my door and I turn to see Timone smiling at me.
"You have a visitor," He tells me. I motioned for him to let whoever it is in. It's the last person I expect to see.
"I guess I should've given you more credit for dressing up," Jax says, pulling at the collar of his tux. I can't help but laugh.
"I didn't know you owned a suit," I state. He snorts walking up to me.
"Didn't you hear me? It's very uncomfortable. I don't know how you do it." I reach over and adjust his tie, loosening it. He dramatically sighs, relieved.
"Geez, you're like a child," I tease.
"Don't make me mess up your hair." I put a hand to my chest and pretend to be hurt. We both share a good laugh before we fall into silence. Not an awkward one, but a comfortable silence.
"I'm really glad you're here tonight." He smiles at me and I can't help but smile back.
"I'm glad that we're not going to be separated."
"Who said I wanted to hang out with you," I joke. We laugh again. He offers me is arm while slipping on his swan-like mask. He leans down and pecks my cheek.
"Shall we go?" I carefully put on my deer mask and link my arm in his.
"We shall."

When Jax and I enter the ballroom my breath is taken away. It was absolutely gorgeous. The servants had lit the crystal chandeliers causing golden light to spill across the room. There are two wooden tables on either side of the room lined with food, half of which I can't even name. At the front there is a stage where the orchestra plays. About every instrument I can think of is up there. In front of the stage there are a few dozen round tables for guest to eat at or talk to one another. And in the center of the room guest are dancing with each other. You can almost feel the excitement in the air.
"Wow..." We both me and Jax say. We laugh at each other as we walk through the room. I look around hoping to spot someone else I know. I soon realised how much I underestimated the skills needed to find someone. Jax turns on his heels and faces me. He bows dramatically causing me to giggle like a schoolgirl.
