"Didn't you hear me? Leave us alone?" The man stared at me again. Why does he look so confused? I'm the one who's supposed to feel that.
"Whatever." I ran back to our front door. Before I could even open the door, my mom suddenly appeared. She was exactly at the other side of the door. My heart almost jumped out of my chest.
"What's happening, MaryRose?" I hugged my mother and then looked back at the gate. He was still there. He was still staring at me. Staring at us. Now he is trying to go in.
I panic and looked at my mom. If I wasn't so close to her, I wouldn't be able to see the sudden change of her expression. She was glaring at the man and then changed to her most beautiful smile.
"Isn't that the guy who helped us? Silly me, I forgot his name again. We should let him in." she was about to walk towards the gate when I stopped her.
"Mom? Don't!"
"Don't worry MaryRose. We will deal with this. He is our guest." Mom smiled.
"Mom, what if you get hurt?" I still convinced her to let that man be.
"Mom won't get hurt. If you are so scared, you can hide here." She pulled me to one of those rooms inside our house. Nobody uses this room cause the light is broken. Also, It has nothing and just... nothing. But somehow I felt safer here.
"Mom, don't leave me." my mother sighed.
"Alright mom won't leave. I am here. MaryRose is safe now. We will keep MaryRose the safest."
"You won't let that man in?" Despite the darkness around us, I felt my mother's warm embrace.
"I promise. I won't leave MaryRose alone." She covered my ears but it was not enough for me to ignore a knock from the outside.
"Mom, who is that man? Is he trying to hurt MaryRose?" I heard Riel's voice. I removed mom's hands.
"Don't come outside, Riel. Stay inside. He will go away like he always do." I whispered.
"Like he ALWAYS do?" I can feel Riel's anger in his words. In a few seconds, I heard his footsteps grew further and further.
"No, Riel. No. Stay indoors! Stay inside! You will get hurt!" Mom held me tighter and hushed me.
"Mom, where's Seven? Where is he?"
"Eerie Rose. Seven here." I felt those small little hands on my face again. I sighed in relief. My little brother is here. But the other one is out there. What should I do? I'm trying to stay calm but I can't. My brother is out there.
"MARYROSE!" I heard a scream. I don't know who it was. I tried to listen more but after that scream all I heard was my mom's lullaby.
"Sleep my dearest MaryRose. Mom won't leave. I'll protect you."
"Seven protect you."
The room wasn't dark enough cause after a few seconds, it was definitely pitch black and quietness.
"Don't do this! Calm down!" I don't know for how long I was asleep but I was woken up again by that man's voice.
I looked around and mom is gone. Where's Seven? I was in panic once again. I tried to open the door but it was locked. I need to know what is happening outside.
I saw a small peephole on this door. This was not here earlier but whatever, I need to know. There I saw Riel, covered in blood, carrying a rake.
"RIEL!" I tried to push this door once again. How do you open this stupid door.
"MaryRose! Don't go out! I'm perfectly fine." He came closer and showed me a smile.
"Where's Seven? I need to go out! Let me out!" I started pounding the door but it was no use.
"He is fine, MaryRose. You are safe. You must be safe." he showed me a final smile and then turned to wherever he was supposed to go.
I closed my eyes, now streaming endless tears. What happened to my mother? Seven?
Suddenly a series of scenes flashed.
A guy, with no eyes, laying in the middle of our hallway.
Hallway covered with blood. Even the stairs.
Riel, what has he done to you? My brother covered in sweat and blood.
That creepy eyeless guy being dragged. By whom? Is that my brother? Riel?
A grave hole in our garden?
Darkness and only the moonlight was his source of light. I looked around, nobody is seeing this but me.
"Riel, what have you done?" That's when I realized that the corpse he dragged all the way from our house to here was that guy.
"MaryRose." He was shocked to see me present in his crime.
"You don't need to see this." He reached out his bloody hands and covered my eyes.
"This is for our MaryRose. Forget about this."
