Jade's POV
I ran to Ashton's, Rhett's, and Jairo's room after the rest of the girls had finished interrogating me to look for Ashton.
When I finally got out of there, Ashton was nowhere to be seen but Jairo was there.
"Hey Jairo. Do you know where Ashton is?"
"No." He replied, with a stoic expression, gluing his eyes to his phone hologram.
"You ok?" I asked.
"Not really." He said.
"What's wrong?" I sat on the edge of his bed.
"Nothing." He turned away from me, facing the lamp he had on.
"I'm pretty sure it's not nothing." I replied.
"Just...can I be alone, please?" He asked, not even bothering to face me.
"Okay... just know I'm here to talk if you need to." I got up and closed the door behind me, confused.
"Hey." Ashton said, making me jump.
"Oh. Hi." I replied, still frazzled about why Jairo would be acting that way.
"You wanna go downstairs and start a game of strip poker?" He said, waggling his eyebrows at me.
"WHAT?" I looked at him in horror
I went in for a punch but he caught my arm the last second and pulled me in, half hugging and half suffocating me. I beat his chest to let me go, because I was pretty pissed off by now.
"Okay, okay I'm sorry." He apologized. "Do you want to just hang out, then?"
"Sure, but not in either of our rooms. Jairo's on his man period and the twins are chatting it up in my room." I replied.
"Wha-" He started.
"Long story." I huffed.
"Okay then. I know a place we can go." Ashton grabbed my hand and dragged me outside to what seemed like a balcony on the second floor.
I didn't know this was here...
He picked me up and put me on the railing, making sure to hold my waist so I didn't fall off.
We watched the waves crash and bubble up again on the shore, where the rest of our friends were setting up a campfire on the sand.
I sighed, content with Ashton's chest against my back, radiating warmth. His heartbeat resonated through my body, making my heart beat at the same pace. I'd never felt this way before. It was so different from my past relationships, which were always awkward and clumsy, starting and ending very abruptly. This feeling's like none other. My best friend in the whole world turned out to be my perfect match.

A/N:
Sorry for the short updates. I've just been trying to get some transitions through and short chapters are easier for me right now because I've been studying for finals all week, but I'll make sure to get a long chapter in next time.
