The sky was clear of clouds, allowing the sun to co-exist with the blue mass. Small birds glided through the sky, their beautiful melodies traveling to all ears. The time for school was already over with some students still lingering around. Students who were lingering around were usually the ones who were the quickest at finishing their homework.
Two boys walked beside each other, happily chatting about different topics. Though, only one boy was doing the talking while the other was nodding his head. The black-haired boy always seemed to be excited about the topic he spoke about. His words holding a certain passion in them. His smile always reached his eyes as held the white-haired boy's hand.
"Kuro, did you see the senpai that went to pick up his sister? They looked so cute together!"
"Eh, isn't that senpai Hiromasa-san from that popular coffee shop, Shiro?"
"Eh?! He's Hiromasa-san?! He doesn't look the same with his hair down! I guess he does look similar with that red streak in his hair!"
Kuro could only let out a small chuckle at Shiro's shock. A small smile managed to escape onto his face as he let him be led to the cafe. This is what they did every day. After school, they would go to Shiro's favorite cafe to hang out and talk about the rumors they heard after school. On the weekends, they would go to the elementary school's playground and play on the swings. It was repetitive, but every minute with Shiro was like heaven to him.
Shiro rambled happily, not noticing Kuro's gazing at his face. He had a big smile on his face as he continued to talk, not noticing how loud he was being. He was just being really cheerful. He almost looked like a cute puppy. Bystanders distanced themselves from the two. They could be mistaken as a very open couple, but people who knew them knew that they were just really close best childhood friends.
Finally, they made it to the cafe. It's far from where they lived, but they still went to this cafe to hangout. It's the only route they could remember when they moved into such a big city. The cafe had a pastel sea theme to it. The windows were directed with small painted bubbles. There was a big sign on the front that read "Heart Shield." Different fishes were painted on the windows. If you listened closely, you could hear songs being played. These songs always ended up sounding like the ones in those cute music boxes.
"Look, Kuro! We're here!"
Kuro chuckled at Shiro's announcement. The small smile on his face remained. "Well, what are we waiting for," he questioned, tilting his head, "Let's go in!" Excitement could clearly be seen on the boy's face as he was dragged inside. The familiar bell jingling as they opened the door. Then the door shut, the jingling happening once more.
The two sat in the corner of the cafe, they were the closest to the window. They already had gone to the cashier They sat down, their feet tapping on the ground rhythmically. They were the regulars in the cafe, so people usually recognize them instantly once they walked through the door. It's not like their presence wasn't enjoyed! No, people enjoyed their presence because they were just some friends hanging out and talking about school. They were doing no harm to anyone.
A blue-skinned male approached the table, his large stature towering the boys. He wore a Heart Shield waiter uniform. Unlike most of the employees who wore a smile on their face, he had a poker face. Almost everyone thought he was emotionless until he smiled at that one time. He stared at them with the same face. Then he spoke, "Raspberry, strawberry, and blueberry filled macaroons with strawberry boba tea."
Kuro was the first to snap out of the talk as two plates and two drinks were placed in front of the two of them. He looked at the man and gave him a nod of approval. He received one in return from him.
"A-Ah! Thank you so much, Arakawa-sama," Shiro stuttered as he quickly shook his head. He had snapped out of the conversation when he realized Kuro was looking at Arakawa. A sheepish smile was on his face as a nervous chuckle escaped his lips. He fiddled with his purse, trying to open it as if he was trying to give Arakawa a tip. But when he looked up, Arakawa had already gone back behind the counter.
Kuro chuckled a bit at Shiro's antics. He picked up a raspberry-filled macaroon and took a bite out of it. A smile was once again present on his face. "Good..." he mumbled. Even if he has been in this cafe over ten times, the quality of food always ended up surprising him. He could tell that the owners cared for the quality of their food just as much as they cared for their cafe.
Shiro had already stuffed his mouth with a strawberry-filled macaroon. He took a small sip of his boba tea as his leg swung up and down. Sometimes his legs would curl up on the bottom of the chair before letting themselves go. He enjoyed the comfortable silence between them. Then, he put down his drink with a small mischievous glint in his eyes.
Kuro looked up to see Shiro looking at him. He put down his drink and wiped his mouth. "Now, let's talk about the rumors I heard today," Shiro hummed, the same glint staying in his eyes. As if Kuro knew what he was talking about, he scooted to the edge of his seat. This would be a good rumor to listen to.
