KARLI'S POV
I sat there in the court room nervous I didn't think that this day would come.
"Ms. Vasquez what happened to you May 20th of 2018" my ex Adam's lawyer asked me while walk back and fourth.
"Adam and I were at a party and I had gotten a little drunk and kissed someone else so when we got home he beat me" I said as my heart beat fast ready to jump out of my chest.
"Okay and what did you do to him a self defense" his lawyer asked.
I sighed and said "I hit him in the head with a lamp".
"You caused him a deadly concussion that day when the police care they saw no bruises on you" his lawyer said.
"Well yeah I had makeup on and I was wearing a dress" I said as I felt my anxiety rise.
"Did you or did you not give him a concussion?" His lawyer asked.
"Yes but it was self defense" I said.
"You also claimed that in 2019 he abused you so tell me why would you stay with a man if he supposedly "abusing" you" his lawyer said.
"I-I had no choice he wouldn't let me leave" I said on the verge of tears.
"No further questions" his lawyer said while walking to her seat.
I could tell my lawyer was getting frustrated I started crying and my lawyer looked at me and mouthed "it's okay".
"Let's take a 10 minute recess" the judge said.
