4- The FaceTime Call

Lukas POV:

I woke up and looked at my phone. Quite a bit of notifications. Not many of them mattered though. Just notifications that people liked my new Instagram post. No texts or anything. Not yet anyway.

I scrolled through all of my social media apps, catching up on everything that I missed throughout the night before getting out of my bed. I stretched and walked to the bathroom.

I looked in the mirror and ran a hand through my messy blond hair. I was wearing a dark blue sweatshirt with some gray sweatpants. Then I walked downstairs to find my mom making breakfast in the kitchen.

I saw 2 plates with 2 pancakes sitting on both of them, with a slightly melted piece of butter on top, drenched in maple syrup. My mouth watered and I couldn't wait to eat. I gave my mom a hug and we both sat down at the table and ate. Delicious.

It was Saturday morning so we had no school. I was so relieved for it to be the weekend after a really long week. Especially the fact that it's still kind of the beginning of the school year and all the teachers and students are still getting situated. Which gets really chaotic sometimes.

I sat on the couch and pulled out my phone again. I got a new text from our group chat.

Jesse [ 10:29am ] you guys up? you probably are but i'm just asking. curious when you guys wanna facetime

I hate to admit that I kind of smiled at that text message.

I texted back.

Lukas [ 10:29am ] i can in about 20 mins. gonna get ready for the day and all that

Jesse [ 10:30am ] awesome!

Petra [ 10:30am ] same i'm gonna get ready too. talk to you guys in a bit

I had already told my mom about Jesse and our group chat and all that stuff. I also told her how excited I was. She was happy that I finally got a friend who liked me for me, and not my popularity in school. Because heck, Jesse didn't even know who I was until everyone talked about me in front of her.

I ran back up to my bathroom. I brushed my hair and left it at that. I didn't really need to do anything with it because I wasn't planning on going anywhere today. Plus I don't need to dress up THAT much just for a facetime call with my hopefully soon-to-be close friends. My hair still looked kind of messy but I didn't care.

I left my sweatshirt on because it was pretty chilly outside today. Even though it was still August (technically almost September). I changed into some jeans and sat down at my desk. I realized it barely took me any time to get ready. Typical. So I had some free time. I just watched some YouTube and scrolled through social medias for the remainder of time.

Petra [ 10:46am ] ready whenever you guys are

Jesse [ 10:47am ] same here

I was feeling kind of nervous. But I told myself to snap out of it. They were going to become close friends...I could feel it. So there's nothing to be worried about. Then my phone started buzzing aggressively on my desk.

I answered the call and there they were. I was so awkward.

"Hi guys" Jesse said cheerfully. They both had a bright smile on their faces.

I couldn't help but grin. This was so much fun. None of my other friends ever facetimed me because they were always playing video games with each other. Then they started calling me a "simp" which was very rude in my opinion. I don't know the exact definition but I do know it's rude. Why can't I be friends with these girls and talk to them frequently? It's not my fault they're always playing video games and don't talk to me.

We ended up just talking about our weekend plans and school and stuff like that.

"What's your guys' favorite candy?" I asked them.

"Why do you ask?" Jesse asked, curious.

"Oh I don't know. I guess I'm just curious. I mean, we're still learning more about each other and I guess the little things count."

"Starbursts" Petra bursted out.

"Noted."

"Umm I would have to say Snickers? If you count chocolate bars as candy." Jesse told me.

"I would count them as candy."

We continued having conversations and it ended up lasting 3 hours.

I came up with a little plan 

That was the WORST ending in my opinion but it'll be worth it i promise 😂 hope you guys enjoyed!
