I wake up around 5am in the morning, not my usual call time. I always wake up with the knock at my door. But today I'm pretty sure that this day will be different. I roll to the side of my bed and as I reach my alarm clock, I accidentally drop the picture frame at my bedside table. A picture of me and Alex, Alexandra McCuller, my best friend for about 10 years now. She is also my alarm as well, every time she knocks at my door she's knocking like she'll break it.

I pick up the frame and put it back on its place. It's still dark outside as I glance at my window, all the lights in my room are turned off. I can feel the coldness of the floor as I walk toward my working table beside the window. It's like I started my day on the bad side but I'm still praying it's not. I glance back at the picture and memories flashback.

THE BEGINNING

September 2000
I was in my first day of internship at a prestige magazine in New York City, and as I walked a few blocks away from the office I saw this coffee shop. And because I'm an hour early I decided to buy a cup of coffee but it will be to go, because I don't wanna be late on my first day. As I open the door of the office the front desk clerk greets me with a big smile "Good morning Ms. Fields and I responded "You can just call me Sam". Samantha Fields is my whole name but everybody was used to Sam, I'm 5'5 in height not so skinny. I have long brunette hair, a fair skin complexion. 22 years of age taking up Journalism and now I'm already an intern. The front desk clerk responded eagerly "Well it's your choice Sam" followed with a smile. Well I think it's a good sign for the day and at some point my nervousness calms down.

I was at the lobby waiting for my 8 a.m call time, it's a good thing I had coffee on my hand. After a minute someone came in thought it was the Editor in Chief but it's just another intern. She smiled at the front desk clerk as she greeted her and she headed towards me. Looking at her she got those bodies that boys would love to see, a Blondie skinny girl with a height like mine. She dresses like a pro and walks like a boss, a potential fashioner indeed. She gave a big smile to me and introduced herself "Hi! I'm Alexandra McCuller, Alex for short. And you are?" with a huge confidence in her question I answered back "Samantha Fields, but you can call me Sam". "Nice meeting you Sam. I guess we will spend a year together" and the voice of the front desk clerk breaks our conversation "You can proceed to 5Th floor, they are waiting for both of you. Good luck on your first day"
