Grace's POV
I woke up in a strange house. The last thing I remembered was blacking out as the Socs attacked. Of course I felt heat radiate through my body after I blacked out. Those Socs probably got a few burn marks on them. I didn't mean to hurt them. It just happens. Whenever I'm scared or feel threatened in any way my fire comes out. It can't be prevented.
I try to stand up a throbbing pain stops me. I feel a hand touch my shoulder gently and a voice telling me to take it easy. I look up and I see Ponyboy.
"Pony, what are you doing here?" I ask him.
"I live here," he replies. "How are you feeling?"
"Oh, better I guess. " I say stupidly.
"How long have I been here?"
"Two days,"
"Two days?!"
"Well that doesn't matter right now. So um... do you wanna meet the gang?" He asked
I nodded my head as he walked over to the big armchair and puts his arms around two of the guys.
"These are my brothers Darry and Sodapop Curtis is, and this is his best friend Steve, Two- bit, and Dallas. He's got a police record bout a mile long but he won't hurt you, and this is Johnny."
Then I remembered what happened two days ago.
My father.
My blood boiled at the thought of what my father did. He hit me. His own little girl. He never understood me and my powers and tried to keep them a secret. But what he didn't know was that all those little "accidents" happened because of him.
I feel my fire began to course through my body and I let it. This went about for a few minutes until someone, I believe Steve, asked if it was getting hot in.here. I try to immediately stop, but my fire was to far from its safe and secure place. I look around my surroundings and see that the entire Curtis house looked like something from a movie when there is a heat wave or something. Then the oven goes up in flames. Darry runs go put it out. And after he does, that's when my powers begin to die down.
"Wonder what was that about?" Darry says. "Oven was working just fine earlier."
To say that I didn't have the guts to admit that I did that, was an understatement. I didn't want them to know. I just met them, how was supposed to trust them? And Pony. Even though I have a gut feeling I could trust him, I just can't.
"Look it was really nice of you to let me stay here but I really got to go," I say a little to hastily while getting of the couch.
"Now what a minute Grace," Darry begins," At least let me take you home."
