John hit the ground running away from the bar. He heard the sirens in the distance as he sprinted in the direction of the water. He left the scene as soon as the car took his Marlena away from him. Eventually he reached the shore, the sand weighing down his feet. He stopped a moment to catch his breath.

The last thing he needed was for Abe or Roman to be dispatched. Roman would fucking love that, he thought to himself as he spotted his Jeep from a distance. He wiped the sweat from his brow and kept it moving until he reached the patch of dirt where his car was parked. He climbed in and headed back to his hotel.

Loneliness hit him like a tidal wave when he unlocked the door and stepped into his empty hotel room. He imagined Dr. Barnes laying Marlena across a bed just like the one in front of him. He could almost hear the breathy little gasps she would let out as he discovered spots that were new to him, but John knew like the back of his hand.

"Fuck!" he yelled again, attempting to blow off steam but it wasn't working. Nothing was. He clutched at the bedding, yanking it from the mattress and tossing it onto the ground in rage. He continued his rampage, throwing pillows and towels across the room until he wore himself out and sank to the ground. "Marlena," he sobbed her name as he cried into the palms of his hands.

Suddenly, his sobs were interrupted by a knock at the door. It was a knock he recognized. He quickly bolted to standing.

"John?" a voice called out. John's heart pounded in his chest. He raced to the door.

And there, Marlena stood. Glowing. Like a vision in front of him. In that tiny black dress. Her eyes were sparkling.

"Doc," he said with tears still rolling down his cheeks.

"Oh, my love," she whimpered, staring at his grief stricken face. She reached up to caress his wet cheek. "May I come in?"

Unable to speak, John nodded and closed the door behind her. Marlena stepped inside and noticed the state of the room. Her jaw dropped. "John...what happened?"

"I don't know, baby, I was missing you so bad and I... I just kind of lost it," he admitted shamefully. Concern washed over Marlena's face as she turned to him. "I should've been able to control myself," he began to apologize. "Especially earlier with Barnes," he looked down, full of regret.

"No, John, it's not your fault. I know you only get like that because you love me so much," she took his hands.

"I do love you, Doc," he choked out, a residual sob catching him by surprise as he struggled to speak.

"I love you too... so much," she closed the space between them. She became like putty in his hands as he drew her into him.

"I missed you so much," she breathed into his ear while they moved as a unit toward the bed. He laid her down, climbing on top of her.

"I miss you too, Doc," he said in between planting open-mouthed kisses on her neck. He stopped for a moment to catch his breath and looked at her face. "I'm so glad you came here, baby. When I saw you with Barnes, I -"

Marlena shut him up by placing a finger on his lips. "There is only one man that I love. And that is you, John Black," she whispered, wiping a stray tear from his cheek. "Make love to your wife."

John captured her lips once more, fusing their bodies. "Your wife," her words echoed in his mind as he slipped a hand under her dress.

"Ohhh," Marlena purred as John palmed her through her panties.

"Tell me this is mine," John pushed her dress up, giving himself more room.

"It's yours, baby," she moaned, thrusting her hips to meet his hand. "Only yours." The words were like music to John's ears. He backed away for a moment to peel off his own shirt and slip out of his pants. Marlena watched with lusty eyes.
