I sat cradled in tree branches at the top of an old oak behind my house. I could see over the rooftop, could see for miles! Overhead, I could see an eagle soar towards the skyline. I wish I could be like it. Soaring above all my troubles, free and wild. "Elli, you dirty idiotic monkey of a child, get off that tree this instant. your gonna break the branches with your fat self perched on it like that! ". Startled out of my daydream I fall tumbling off the tree. " I am sorry mom" I say wiping the blood from the cut on my knee. " I told you so, now go to the market and buy three eggs, a loaf of bread and some oats. NOW!" said my mom in a harsh tone. I sigh, grab a bag, get some money, and run out the door.
I finally pick the perfect pumpkin, buy the biggest eggs, get the crispiest oats, pay the money, and walk down the small mud path leading towards my house. on my way, I see a small girl rolled up in the corner of the streets. " hi little girl." I say heading towards her. She looks up, terrified, like a deer in red headlights. " I am not going to hurt you," I say in the softest nicest way possible. I take a loaf of bread, mom is gonna kill me. I break it int a tiny piece and give it to her. Reluctantly she takes it. I sit next to her my dress was getting muddy, but I don't care. " you ok?" I say. She looks up to me with her big brown eyes and whispers " thank you" in a soft voice. " no problem kiddo" I whisper back getting up and ruffling her hair.
As I enter the house I hear mom yelling at my sister. Someone's not in a good mood. I plan on rushing to my room so she won't see my dress, and I can lie about the bread. The baker ran out of it, or a thief stole it. Suddenly mom barges into the room. she takes one look at me and starts yelling, " what have you done with your dress, and where is the bread. You ate it didn't you. you are a selfish pig. you don't deserve this life. you little dog!". Tears spring into my eyes. " I am so sorry" I cry out "I was just trying to help this little girl on the street". " Your father will hear this", says mother. The words echoed in my ear, father. A father should give you a feeling of warmth and happiness, not instill fear. A father is supposed to protect you, not abuse you. " NO, please, I am sorry. I won't ever do it again.PLEASE". She ignores me, locking the door of my room, with a grin on her face, knowing she has won.

authors note
The picture on top is Ellie. She is kind of a Mary Sue but I intend on giving her some bad qualities. This is my first story so it is not that great. I would really appreciate some constructive criticism. ( i need it ).
btw - her dad is supposed to be abusive, I was planning on doing a scene on that but I wasn't really comfortable with it so yeah.....
