If your force is as formidable as you claim-
He who gave you ancient knowledge and knew purpose, defeated-
I was a king! The rightful king of Asgard! Betrayed.
You think you know pain? He will make you long for something as sweet as pain. You will have your war, Asgardian. But if you fail, if the Tesseract is kept from us, there will be no realm, no barren moon, no crevasse where he can't find you!
Wanda jolted awake, breathing heavily. She had a horrible migraine which made it hard for her to think. A couple days ago she came to learn that her mind was synced to Loki's subconscious. Some part of her wished she figured it out earlier to spare her the pain. There wasn't a way she knew to stop his memories from appearing in her nightmares and going to visit him wasn't an option considering the cameras. So she just let it happen but as they did none of it really made sense.
There was a knock at her door which pulled her out of her thoughts. "Wanda, can i come in?" Clint's voice calmed her a bit so she used her telekinesis to unlock and open the door. "Hey. How're you feeling?"
"Shitty."
"You look shitty, too." She laughed sarcastically at his response. "We got a mission in a few hours. You up for it?"
"Yeah. Who's going?"
He came to sit down on her bed. "Well, for starters, you, me, and Nat. Steve's gonna tag along just to make sure everything goes smoothly."
"Or to make sure nothing happens to me."
"No, that's what i'm for."
Wanda sighed and got out of bed. "How many times do i have to tell you? I'm fine." She could tell that he was still guilty about what happened. After she woke up he took her to the med bay but fortunately Cho found nothing. Truth be told nothing could really explain what had happened to her. I guess you could say it was beyond their understanding. "I don't blame you for what happened and neither should you."
"I was the one who told you to take that nap-"
"And i was the one who listened. Besides it could've happened when i went to sleep that night. Then what? Be glad that you checked on me when you did?" Even after what she said he still felt guilty. Like there was a way from stopping it from happening.
"Where're you going?" he asked as she left the room.
"Shower."
Wanda started the water after she closed the door. She undressed but before she could get in she felt her stomach turn. It wasn't long before the nauseated feeling rose. Quickly, she made her way to the toilet and threw up. When she was done she flushed it and sat on the cold marble floor. Out of all the days she could get sick, it had to be today. She could tell them that she's not up for it but then it would just look like she was being lazy. This was her job now and that means pushing through.
Once she had enough energy she got off the floor and headed into the shower. The feeling of the warm water hitting her body relaxed her, making her nausea fade away. She cleaned herself then sat on the shower floor, something she would do when she either wasn't ready to get out or had a lot on her mind. In this situation it was both.
The more she thought about Loki's memories the less it made sense. It felt like something was missing. There was a point after she had let go of the staff that she couldn't remember. The only thing that came to mind was pain. Undeniable, pain. Everything after that was a blur. As the water began to turn cold, Wanda knew that it was time to get out. She wrapped her towel around herself and left back to her room.
