"Hey, you wanna talk about it?" Payton asked, walking over and sitting on the bed beside me. I rolled over and laid my head in his lap, with my face up, facing his.
"Not really. We can if you think it'll help, though," I said, closing my eyes. Payton always seemed to know what would help. No matter what was wrong, he always knew what to do.
"I think it might," he said, running his hand through my hair. I opened my eyes, letting another tear fall.
"Where to even start?" I asked, shaking my head.
"Start with the reason you cried the first time today," he replied, braiding a little strand of my hair.
"Ugh. Nick. He was trying to help, but it was so stressful, and- ugh. Nick. He kissed me," I said, facepalming.
"Oooh," Payton said, cringing.
"Yeah. The second time was because Tony broke up with me after two days together. That's the shortest relationship I've ever had," I groaned.
"Actually, it's not," Payton chuckled. "You dated Noen for about three hours before you realized you two were better off as friends."
"Oh, yeah," I giggled, wiping away the newest tear on my right cheek. "The third time was because I wanted to be alone after, but Nick wouldn't leave me alone. He- He grabbed my arm and wouldn't let go. Ondreaz stopped him though, so I could get away. Then I ran to Avani's room and laid on her bed until Ondreaz came to sit with me. The fourth time was because Ondreaz was talking to me, and you know how I am. When I'm crying, if somebody tries to help, I cry more. I wasn't even crying anymore until I heard him knock. The fifth time was talking to Indiana, and it was the same reason as with Ondre. The sixth time's now," I sighed, feeling another teardrop fall into my hair.
"Wow. So you had a pretty busy day, then," he said, and I nodded. I sighed, wiping my face again and smiling.
"How do you always know exactly what to do?" I asked, smiling.
He shrugged, looking innocent. "I don't know. It's a gift," he chuckled.
"Do you mind if I stay here tonight?" I asked, closing my eyes again to enjoy him playing with my hair.
"You can stay here as long as you want," he said, and I could hear the smile in his voice.
"Thanks," I mumbled, opening my eyes. I picked up my phone again and opened my messages, seeing that I had a few from my mom and a few from my friend Luca. Luca was in Club Musical.ly with me, and he lived in Vancouver. I opened my mom's first, laughing at the texts she'd left.
I giggled and checked what time she sent the one about my phone. It was sent at 6:00, which was 9:00 at home. I shook my head and FaceTimed her. When she picked up, I smiled.
"Hey, Momma," I said, and she smiled at me.
"I see you got my texts," she said, raising her eyebrows.
