Title: "Cake"

L was on his way back to his shadowy apartment after a case that, begrudgingly, he had to visit someone in person to complete. He yawned as trees blurred past the car window. He was awfully worn out at this point, he had been separated from both Y/n and sugary snacks for longer than necessary.

Ah yes, Y/n. L had met you through Watari. You were Watari's youngest child, and a darn good baker. The way L had met Y/n was when he actually asked Watari where he got all the sweets he would ask for. Of course, Watari had to get permission from L to introduce Y/n to him and, surprisingly, L was keen to meet you. Mostly to give his compliments for the food.

One thing lead to another, and now you lived with him, both for safety and personal reasons. He would often have you in the room when he had his online meetings with Interpol and such. "It increases my level of intelligence by 40%" he would say. Truthfully, he really just wanted to cuddle because many of those meetings uninterested him but you never questioned him, which is something about you he loved. Unfortunately, this was completely illegal. Not the cuddling, but having you witness all that information. He couldn't risk anything happening to you because of what you knew, or any information spreading where it shouldn't be. This was the same reason you had no social media. However, the young detective would be lying if he said he wasn't fond of you.

He blinked and realised he was outside the apartment block. He outwardly sighed before taking the stairs, it was the only type of exercise he ever got. He reached the right floor after a few minutes, and walked to the door of his place panting and out of breath. Yikes. He unlocked the door, only to re lock it after he was inside. He walked to the kitchen to see you pulling a tray of muffins out of the oven. You turned around to see him and smiled in his direction.

"I missed you," he said, his voice content. You smiled at him, closed-eyed, extending your arms for an expected hug. When you didn't feel his body against yours, you opened your eyes and spun around to see him already eating a muffin.

"Meanie," you huffed, crossing your arms over your chest and pouting slightly before you remembered, "careful those literally just came out the oven!"

He chuckled, "I am. And, how exactly am I being a meanie?" He cocked his head to the side and gave you a questioning glance as he continued to eat the remnants of the muffin, which he was now holding with his thumb and index finger.

"Don't pretend you don't know!" You raise your voice a little, you weren't that angry at him but he could be incredibly annoying when he behaved this way. "I thought you meant that you missed me!" You resumed the pouting, arms crossed position that you didn't remember changing.

He laughed for a moment, "Look, I love you and all, but I wanted cake-"

"I have cake.."

"Stop referring to your ass as cake," he sighed, "it doesn't make any sense..." He finished the baked good, cleaned his hands of any crumbs, and pulled you into a warm embrace. "Ok, I'm sorry, are you happy now?"

You breathed out, more relaxed than before. You nodded, leaning down to kiss his forehead. He would probably have been taller than you if he wasn't so slouched over all the time. He retreated from the hug but left his arms floating beside your waist. "I have another Interpol meeting in a few, can you.." He trailed off, scratching his head before replacing it on your hip.

"Of course I'll join you, silly," you booped his nose, which made his cheeks redden slightly. The both of you made your way into the dark room. You sat on the floor, cross-legged, with your boyfriend somewhat sitting in your lap. You draped an arm around his waist and pulled him close as Interpol's meeting on the 'Kira' case began.
