Today started like any other day. I reluctantly got up, woken by mum, "Time for school Lil". That's the very worst thing to hear in the mornings. Why? Why does school have to start so early? I keep telling myself that there isn't long left now. I might go to college. I don't think I can stay at this school for much longer. I am so over it. Who cares about maths, or science or English or sports. Who cares about any of it. Not me. That's for sure. I want to work with animals. Maybe a vet or something. I will probably do that at college. Anyway that's not what I wanted to write about today.
So mum got me up. Pulled open my curtains. I did my usual protesting and she brought me my usual toast and tea. I watched Gilmore Girls on the tv as I do every morning before school. Straightened my unruly hair, put on my mascara and I was ready. I didn't do much in the mornings. I wouldn't do anything to jeopardise my remaining moments in bed. Once I was ready, I hung out of my window waiting to see the bus on the way down the hill. We live in the middle of nowhere, so if I miss that bus, mum goes mental. I saw it, grabbed my bag and my shoes and ran to the bus stop in front of my house. Made it. Just in time. As always.
The bus stopped and I flashed the old bus driver a smile and my bus pass.
"Lil! Lily!" I could hear Tilly's familiar voice coming from upstairs. I ran up the stairs and there she was, in our regular, front of the bus seats. I don't really care what anyone else says. I love to sit on the top at the front. You can watch everything from here. I threw my bag down by Tilly's feet and sat next to her.
"Hey Til" I said "You ready for today? Only 4 days until you turn 16. Today will be party planning central."
"I can't wait Lily! We can make plans all day. We don't have any important lessons today anyway. It's not like we even pay attention."
My phone buzzed. It was mum. I had forgotten my lunch. I always do that.
"Hey Tilly, do you have extra food for me today?"
"Yes Lily. You know I always bring spare."
What a good friend she is. Ever since we were 11 I had forgotten my lunch, pretty much every day. Tilly started making her mum pack her extra, for those times that I forgot. She would donate to my cause. And we wouldn't have it any other way.
The day progressed as it normally would. We talked about who we were going to invite to the party. Obviously, we were going to invite the popular group, they knew all the boys from the boy's school. Going to an all-girls school we desperately needed some male company. Me and Tilly were too shy to make our own male friends. Neither of us have ever had any real boyfriends. Tilly said hello to a boy once and it didn't go too well. He just walked away. Hopefully the party will introduce us to the boys of our dreams.
We decided the party would be at the hall near her house. Her mum and dad are paying for it. Hopefully they won't stay there, otherwise how will we sneak the alcohol in? The popular kids won't come without it! We promised them we'd have alcohol. We discussed this for quite some time, getting told off in all our lessons for talking too loudly. Yeah, Yeah, Whatever.
School finished as it usually does. By this point we were bored out of our skulls and pretty much all chatted out. We waited by the bus stop for our bus home and Tilly decided to invite everyone on our facebook, as well as their friends, to her party. She created an event and sent the invite out. People replied quite quickly and it looked like a lot of people were interested in coming. We got on the bus, feeling pretty excited about what we had planned.
When I got home, I came into my room. Like always. Put my jogging bottoms on and my ripped old t-shirt – my home attire. Mum was making dinner and looking after Maxi. Tilly was messaging me telling me to look at how many people said they would be coming to her birthday party. It said around 60. That is a lot. We only know each other.
That's when it happened. As I was chatting with Tilly, I got a friend request. That was exciting. It almost never happens. And you know what is even less common with me. It was a boy. A real life boy. And he friend requested me. Wahooooo. I didn't know him, but as I was looking around I saw that he was listed as going to Tilly's party. So he must have been a friend of a friend.
Jack Riley.
What a name. I can already picture us getting married. Hahahaha. No. maybe not. But he's pretty hot. Bright blonde hair, blue eyes. He looks strong. Nice. I sent his picture to Til and she told me to "ACCEPT THAT HOTTIE NOW". So I did. Now I'm waiting. Tilly says I should just message him. He's obviously interested in me, why else would he add someone he doesn't know?
Omg
Omg
Omg
I just messaged him. I said, "Hi, do I know you? Lol ☺" it says he's read it.
Oh god please reply.
