Princess Katalina Shane POV
There stand four royals, the woman is dressed in a classic royal red gown and gold jewelry. The men are all dressed in black pants and a white chemise, and while they all wear vests, the King has on his one-sided cape.
They walk over to us as the King speaks, "Good afternoon." He moves a chair back, allowing the Queen to take a seat before sitting in his own chair. The princes sit in the two empty chairs to my side.
The black-haired one that sits next to me starts talking. "I believe we haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet."
I look at him, noticing his light blue eyes. "We indeed have not met, but it is yet to be determined whether it is a pleasure or not."
He laughs at my words. "I'm Andrew."
"Katalina" I outstretch my hand.
He shows me a broad smile and shakes my hand. I look over and notice that Mother is looking at us. Oh no.
"Princess," I look over and notice that the King is speaking to me. "I have heard that you lived with commoners since you were young. Did you do anything exciting?"
I smile, thinking back at the memories of where I grew up. "Yes, I didn't only stay in the village where I was sent. For about six years I traveled on and off to the neighboring countries. It was absolutely my favorite thing to do."
The Queen looks at me and, with a gentle smile, asks, "Why did you like it so much?"
I fidget with the skirt of my dress as I answer her. "Well, it was just me and my horse or an occasional friend. I don't know; it just made me feel at peace."
Zariah smiles at me, probably remembering our trip to see our grandfather and the southern villages.
"Why haven't I heard of this before?" Asks Mother.
"We haven't spoken in ten years, I didn't think it would matter much. Besides, we haven't yet had time to catch up." I respond, as I start stroking Melany's straight hair. I look back at my parents. "That reminds me, I wanted to visit Amanda soon. I've been anxious about her, so it would be amazing if you could tell me where her school is."
Everyone except the princes and myself look down with what I could only assume was a shame. The room falls silent, my father looks at me with a sad smile and gives the Queen a small nod.
"Katalina, the children that were taken, they weren't sent off to school." She looks down with a worried expression on her face, while worst-case scenarios run through my mind as each second ticks by.
