The Omega Project

Issue 1- Questions 1: Snips and Snails

Tony Gadaleta

Page 1

We are starting our story within a room in a LAB for THE COLLECTIVE. We are in the POV of THE BABY, whose eyes are closed to start. There are two speaking characters we are meeting are KALERA and ELTON, two scientists for The Collective, who are arguing about what they should do with The Baby.

Page 1 Panel 1 Panel is completely black save for the speech bubble.

1) CAP: 16.8 YEARS AGO

2) Elton: You're going to get us killed.

Page 1 Panel 2 Panel is also black, save for the speech bubble. This should be bigger, so it seems that the voice is coming from closer then the first voice.

3) Kalera: What? Do you expect me to leave him here?

4) Kalera: I haven't been able to sleep for weeks.

Page 1 Panel 3 The center of the panel should be showing some light, like someone who was fast asleep is opening his eyes and is slightly blinded by the lights in the room. The speech bubbles should be from far away, like they were in the first panel.

5) Elton: Why? It's your fault it exists.

6) Elton: For the project to succeed, you insisted on a prime subject.

Page 1 Panel 4 There should be more light coming in, most of the panel out of darkness, and very blurry outlines of two individuals, the front one being Kalera, and the back one being Elton.

7) Kalera: I was wrong about the whole project. We all were. I thought this was going to change things. Make us better. All we're going to accomplish is the destruction of humanity.

8) Elton: Don't you think that is a slight hyperbole?

9) Kalera: (Talking more to herself) No...

10) Kalera: (Talking more to herself) I don't.

Page 1 Panel 5 The room is in full focus now. Directly in front of us is Kalera, a quite beautiful woman in her late 30's, with light skin, brown eyes, and long, curly dirty blond hair. She is wearing a white, howie-style lab coat, glasses, and white lab gloves. She is holding a bright red BLANKET that she is tucking around the Baby, whose point of view we have been in this whole time. The blanket should be the brightest object in the panel. She has a loving look on her face as she stares right out of the panel. Elton is behind her, looking down at Kalera and the Baby. He is in his early 40's, has light skin, brown eyes and brown hair, which is balding slightly in the front. He is wearing the same white gloves and lab coat as Kalera, and horn rimmed glasses. He has a concerned look on his face.

11) Kalera: Hi Baby. I'm sorry to wake you. You need to be quite, OK? We're going for a little ride. Don't be scared.

12) Elton: Kalera, be reasonable. You are going to lose everything. All because of some sudden misguided motherly instinct. You aren't its mother. It doesn't have a mother. It's not human.

Page 1 Panel 6 Kalera has lifted the Baby slightly, so we can still see her and Elton, as well as more of the room. It is a plain white room, sterile in nature. There is nothing in it besides the three individuals and the bassinet the Baby was lying in. Kalera is still looking at the baby, with tears in her eyes, as she answers Elton.

13) Kalera: You may be right Elton, but that means nothing. Every child needs a mother, human or no, to provide it with nurture, love...
