I never knew how strong I could be until that day...

I watched as the boy in front of me tried to attack my cousin. She looked so scared. She hadn't done a thing wrong. She only tried to talk to the kid. He was the one who was trying to hurt her.... And as her family, I wasn't standing for it.

That was how I ended up here. I stood between the bully and my cousin, holding up a shield. Only, it wasn't normal. It was made of a blinding white light. So much so, that the boy had covered his eyes from the glare.

"Who are you!?" He asked in fear.

"The girl you shouldn't have messed with..."

I stared at the letter in my hand. It felt heavy, even though it was only a few inches thick. I sighed, picking up my phone and dialing the familiar number.

RING!
RING!
RING!

"Hello?"

"How do you sound so perky at 7 o'clock in the morning?" I asked, amusement distracting me for a moment. This is my cousin, Hikari. She's only a few months younger than me, but believe me, there are times that she acts like she's 5 years old.

"I'm a morning person! Unlike SOME people." I heard a groan in the background, causing me to chuckle. "Keep it down, would ya?! Some of us need our beauty sleep!" That's Shizuka, my other younger cousin. She has more sarcasm up her sleeve than anyone I've ever met. She can be pretty grumpy too, especially if you get on her bad side. These two have been like sisters to me ever since I was little, and I wouldn't trade them for the world.

"So, why'd you call?" I took a deep breath. This was gonna be tough. I braced myself. "I got the letter." There was absolute silence...

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?! OH MY GOD, HOLD UP!" I laughed as she suddenly Facetimed me. I answered, being greeted of the sight of both my cousins at their vanity stand. Hikari had long, rainbow colored hair, that draped from the top of her head to a little ways past her shoulders. Her bluebell eyes shined with happiness, something they normally portrayed.

Shizuka sat beside her, seeming to be trying to rub the sleep from her eyes. She had Black hair that rested at a longer length then her sisters, reaching her mid-back instead. Her emerald eyes were curious, although it was always hard to tell with her. They both waited in anticipation.

"Come on! Open it!" Hikari exclaimed, as if I was withholding the world's most amazing gift from her. I bit my bottom lip, a nervous habit of mine. "What if I got rejected? What if my audition was as bad as I think it was, and the judges hated it? What if-"

"For God's sake, just open it." Shizuka rolled her eyes at my nervous rant. "So what if you didn't get in? There are plenty of other schools." I smiled nervously, then tore open the letter. Slowly, with building nervousness inside of me, I unfolded the letter.

I read the first few lines. My shoulders slumped, and I lowered the letter away from my face. "What!? What does it say?" I looked back to the letter.

"Dear Akane Hamada. We at UADA... are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted into our Dance Program!" I heard my cousins cheer from the other side of the phone and I started laughing. This moment was a dream come true for me, and I couldn't believe it.

"Girl, we are CELEBRATING! We have to do something special tonight!" Hikari suggested. "Definetely. It's Akane's last night of freedom before she has to conform to school life." Hikari nudged her cousin for her sarcastic remark. "Where do you wanna go, Akane? Any place you want, just name it!" They both stared at me in anticipation. I mulled it over. Anyplace I want, huh? I smirked.

"You two feel like dancing?"

"What's up, Lee?" Shizuka nodded to the guard outside the Dance club. No, not the Strio kind, but they did have a bar. "Psyche and two guests."

The guard checked his list. "It seems the King has reserved the best for you tonight. Enjoy your night, ladies." He opened the door. We walked in, and I was surprised by the number of people here. The place was packed.

"Since when do you know royalty?" Hikari asked, voicing the question I had wondered about myself. Shizuka smirked. "He isn't royalty, but he's nicknamed the King of these streets. He's good, but not our level good. I dance in his crew. We're battling tonight. And since this is Akane's celebration, I figured she could show 'em what she's got." So, she wants to show me off to her friends? Eh. I don't mind.

Suddenly, the music stopped for a bit. "Who is ready to BATTLE!?" I heard an announcer exclaim. Shizuka smiled. "That's my cue. I'll see you guys after, kay?" She waved as she walked off. I smiled. Soon, two groups stepped onto the dance floor. "In one corner, we have our challengers, Drop Squad!" A light cheer came from the crowd. "And in this corner, we have our champions, the BAKUCREW!" A much louder cheer rose from the audience. I watched as both crews began to dance. Both did good, but I could see that the Bakucrew were better.

I smiled as I saw the crowd cheering for my cousin and her crew. I clapped along with them. "They're really good." I commented, turning to Hikari. I noticed she looked star struck. "Hello? Kari, are you okay?" She jolted out of her daze. "I-I WASN'T STARING!" She yelped in surprise. I chuckled. "Sure. Who is it?" I scanned the group. There were three boys and one other girl beside Shizuka. The girl had pink skin, pink hair with horns curling out of them, and black and yellow eyes. There was a guy with yellow hair and a black lightning bolt through it. Another guy had Red hair, and shark-like teeth that showed off when he smiled. Finally, there was an Ash-Blonde with Crimson colored eyes. He smirked at the crowd, and I knew.

"It's the blonde one, isn't it? The one with red eyes." She blushed, which pretty much confirmed my answer. "He is cute though. GET YOUR MAN GIRL!" I exclaimed making myself extra loud to catch their attention. Hikari buried her head in her hands, and I laughed at her demise.

"Yo Twilight! You ready?" I smiled. But then I realized the time. $HIT! "Maybe next time!" I grabbed my bag, then raced towards home.

Shizuka's Pov:

"Where's she going?"

"It's 9 o'clock." I answered, sighing. "Her mom has her on a pretty strict curfew. I guess I'll introduce her some other time, you guys." I really hope she doesn't get in trouble. I know my aunt would never hurt her, but Akane looks up to her mom. If she says something too harsh, it would crush her. I can't see her crushed.
