Label: Rose's Poison
Ah! how the rose
that what once was in bloom
slowly withers in itself
taking venom to its tomb
darkly reminiscing on
injustice from the past,
articulately plotting
for revenge on sins of last.
Its cruelty slowly grows
as it drinks the poison deep,
and its heart is overtaken
for Death’s claws to surely reap.
Though gentle touch and soothing voice
attempt to rid the plague,
the thorns grow callous, fatally sharp,
as the colors swiftly fade.
and as Death cuts its shriveled stem
and ceases all its strife.
He briefly scowls and coldly grunts
“what a wasted life.”
