Rainy Days

Pit-pat! Pit-pat! Pit-pat! As I was studying in a cafe, I noticed that it had started to rain silently. The rain was nice and serene, but I realised I didn't bring my umbrella. "Oh, great! I didn't bring my umbrella today, what a smart decision! At least it's not raining heavily!" I exclaimed. I started to pack up and go home, before the rain started to get worse. 10 minutes later, I was fully packed, but when I was walking out, I noticed...

Crash! Whish! "Indeed, what a smart decision, now not only do I have a test to prepare for. Now, I'm probably going to catch a fever by the time I get home," I muttered. The rain was crashing down on people and heavy winds were only amplifying it more, making people's umbrellas fly away into the cloudy void of the sky and down to the busy streets below. I sat down, but one of the employees of the cafe walked up to me and said, "Sorry, but the cafe is closing in 5 minutes and all customers have to leave." "Right, I'll be on my way," I replied. I walked out into the wet, puddled street and started running towards nearby shelter. The small bus stop had a timetable and I desperately checked it to see when the next bus was coming, but to no avail. I sat down dejectedly, waiting for the rain to lessen. Rain was typically relaxing, but not when I had forgotten my umbrella. I then felt my wet hair on my shoulder. Apparently, I didn't run fast enough. Then, a boy approached the bus stop from a distance, while holding a clear umbrella. He had a backpack full of books and from the textbooks, it seemed like he was from my school.

He had straight black hair, with matching eyes and his skin was fair. He stood next to me and asked with his deep relaxed voice, "Do you need any help?" "Oh, don't worry about me, I just left my umbrella at home and will probably catch a fever," I replied. He shook his head. "Oh, that won't do at all," he added, "Maybe I can walk you to your house." He then gave me his hand, waiting for mine.

"Umm, it's a bit far away, are you sure about this?" I asked the boy. He held the umbrella in front of him as he calmly responded, "I don't mind at all." I held his hand and stood up. As we walked to my house, I was starting to get curious. Who was he and why was he helping me? "So do you have exams coming up soon?" I enquired.

"Yes, in fact I was studying a while ago," he replied. "So why are you walking me to my house instead of studying?" I questioned him. Suddenly he stopped walking, "We all have big events in our life such as exams and we go through a lot, but it's important to help other people whenever you can so that if not yourself, you can get a bit of pressure off someone else's back," he sternly responded. I was taken aback by his noble words. What was such a kind person doing in this harsh world? People have manipulated me before to get me in trouble or tried to distract me, but there was a guy who I didn't even know very well, who would have been better off studying was helping me of all people.

Eventually after some time, we reached my house. "Thank you so much for helping me get home!" I exclaimed. "Haha, it was no big deal," he chuckled. He was about to leave when I grabbed his hand. He had really nice and soft hands. "Wait don't go yet, since you helped me get to my house, the least I could do is invite you to study with me over tea," I stated. "I-I'd love that," he muttered as his face turned into a bright shade of red.
