Hi, I just wanted to say the time zone is in the future. Since you couldn't tell by the summery there was a downfall of man kind, so there will be some modern things and something things that aren't there. :)

If you could find heaven, would you? I’ve heard stories of a time where people flew things called machines to the stars. My mother told me that the gods got mad and destroyed it all. Thus, man-kind has relapsed. So, that means no more flying machines. Ever since she told me of the stories about the skies, I always wanted to go there. I’m not sure why, I just want to see the heavens for myself. If I can manage that…I’m sure I’ll find the little piece of happiness that I lost. The world can change in the blink of an eye. In the span of a few minutes, I was an orphan. I was homeless. Life isn’t fair. That much I do know, and I’m planning to use it to my advantage. I dare the “gods” to try and stop me.

“Look, at that girl! Laying about the streets like that! Shameless…” Some lady scoffed at me. Sure, I was lying in the street. I was probably getting my clothes extremely dirty, but I didn’t particularly care. It was comfy. That’s all that mattered to me.  I mean, really. How many orphans could find the perfect spot of dirt that fit amazingly to every curve of their body? Not very many, I'm sure. So, I laid there a few more seconds enjoying the perfect dirt before my eyes fluttered open.

On the ground in the marketplace, I couldn’t see much. There were too many people walking around me. The smells... now that was something to wake up to.  It made me feel so alive. All the foods, the flowers, and then there was the occasional nasty fish smell formed into one. I breathed it all in. If only I could sleep in the marketplace everyday....The stares I was getting was priceless too.

“Ugh!” I muttered as one person actually walked on top of me. People weren’t exactly the kindest to orphans. That didn't mean you could walk on top of them though! Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, right? I kicked my leg out to the side, tripping the lady that had just stepped on me.

I snickered at the flamboyant oomph noise the lady made as she landed on the ground. It was like watching a hippo fall down. Well, how I imagine one would fall. Dust puffed up everywhere. She coughed and wiggled trying to get off the ground.  It was hilarious.

“Officers! Officers!” The fat lady started screaming helplessly. I giggled, still laying on the ground.  “This filthy girl just attacked me! Catch her.”

That was my cue to leave! By the time I got to my feet the “officers”, which were more like guards for the rich and pompous, were already running toward me. That didn’t stop me from getting a little breakfast from the market though. I was hungry. A few feet to my left there was a bread stand. It was practically begging me to take it. I made it my mission to stop there. I swerved toward the mob of people until I reached the bread stand. Quickly, I slipped a loaf under my tunic.

“Hey, you! Stop!” Oops, he saw me. I grinned at the man running the bread stand. Before he could catch me, my legs pushed me forward. They propelled me away from pursuers. My slim frame allowed me to glide though the crowd with ease. The scenery zoomed by. My eyes were focused forward. I didn’t really have to worry about the pompous guards catching me, but I didn't exactly feel like breaking out of jail for the nineteenth time.

Just ahead, I was an alley. It seemed like every time they chased me, they got faster. They probably were still pretty far behind. Their bulky frames didn’t let them move through the mass of people like I could. I didn't look back though. It would only slow me down. The alley seemed like the best option if I wanted to lose them, so that’s where I headed.   Once I came to the alley, I took a sharp turn to the right. As I entered it,  I glanced behind me to see if they had followed. There was nothing out of the ordinary.
