"Are you ready, baby?"

Your skin crawled at the petname, despite it coming from your soulmate's lips; but you simply played it off as a tremor of excitement.

"Of course! Whenever you are."

He scoffed, grabbing you by the wrist roughly and making you wince; yanking you out the front door to the sidewalk.

"I thought you knew to tell me when you were ready. At this point you're just trying to waste my time."

"N-no, I wasn't trying to-"

"Don't interrupt me, bitch."

You pressed your lips into a fine line at that, knowing better than to keep talking when he got like this. 'But you weren't talking...'

"Now you're going to act like you're scared of me? What have I ever done to hurt you, give me one good example." He snarled, stopping on the sidewalk and turning you around to face him with a harsh grip on your shoulders.

You were speechless, afraid of what he'd do if you told him that he hurt you, every second of every day. That simply being in his presence felt like you were being ripped to shreds from the inside out.

"That's what I thought. You should be thankful I do so much for you! I even took a day off of work to take you to dinner tonight. And you should smile with me more, you're easier to be around when you at least look happy."

You put on the most elegant smile you could muster, while gently trying to pull your wrist free from the hellish grip he refused to let up on, but he just tightened his grip once more.

"Come now, we have reservations."

The soft clacking of your beige heels against the pier mingled with the delicate splashing of the foamy waves, both being the only thing you didn't block out. You'd just finished the date- well, if you could even call it that.

Most 'dates' consisted of him bragging about his job and complaining about all the things you did wrong.

'You should dress up more, maybe you'll get some friends if you look nice.'

'Maybe if you actually listened to my directions any more, you'd be better off.'

'If you were happier, it would be a lot easier to be with you.'

'Why was I ever given a soulmate as useless as you.'

The list goes on. These are just some of the things he said while happy, the things he'd say when angry brought bile to your throat just by thinking of them.

"How are you feeling? I'd be surprised if you didn't feel a bit sick, you've eaten quite a bit."

"I'm fine... thank you. And you?"

"Not the best, i admit. But I'll be better after tonight..."

Your stomach churned, and you swapped. "W-what's tonight..?" You managed to choke out, grip tight around the small black purse at your side.

"That's a good question, actually! Tonight is our fourth year anniversary... and you know what that means."

Gulping, you shook your head.

"After four years of knowing one of your soulmates... one can die without affecting the other, and you can move on to meet your next."

He stepped closer to you, caging you in against the safety rail of the pier that stopped at your waist.

"And after tonight... I'll finally be free of the curse that is you." He spat. "Everything you do is annoying. God, I can't even walk into the same room as you without feeling disgusted! Why would I have a soulmate like you?!"

You screamed as he grabbed you by the neck, sobbing and begging; for someone, anyone to help you.

You just wanted out of this hell.

You were sick, and tired. He was more of a burden to the world than you knew you could ever be, so you took matters into your own hands.

Digging your nails into the skin of his wrist, you ripped it open as you raked them down his arm.

"Fuck! You bitch!"

Thick blood splattered onto the deck below, wetting your heels and his choked screams reverberating in your chest.

"This is for everything you ever put me through, you disgusting bastard." You whispered before twisting the both of you around, pressing his body against the rail and punching him blindly until he fell over the rail into the awaiting ocean below.

You stared into the water, the extra waves caused by his silent struggles almost hypnotizing.

As you silently slipped off your heels, you blinked up at the sky when a few raindrops fell onto your cheeks.

You sniffled, setting the heels down and walking away from the scene on bare feet. The rain steadily got heavier, soaking you and adding to the empty feeling of losing your first soulmate.

You shivered, your arms wrapped around your middle as you gingerly walked down the pavement of... God knows where. After leaving the pier, you followed your feet to wherever they wanted to go and not paying attention to your surroundings.

"Hello... ma'am? Is everything alright? What are you doing out at these hours, you look lost." A kind faceless person asked, concern laced in their features.

Remembering your soulmate's words, you straightened up. "I'm fine, thank you... don't worry about me. You probably have a soulmate at home to worry about, I wouldn't want to hold you up." You smiled.

"Ah, you're right, I do. Well, stay safe!" They chuckled back before disappearing into the night.

Sighing heavily, you kicked at a small pebble on the ground and watched it roll across the wet pavement.

You reached a small park, sitting on a bench and staring at your feat; the rain still persistent in it's downpour.

"Baekhyun, not now! We're in public!" You overheard the muffled sound of a woman giggling through the rain somewhere.

"Come on, sweetheart... there's nobody around, it's nearly 4 AM. Just one kiss? Pleeaasseee~?"

Your head shot up at the voice, assuming the man to be Baekhyun and gasped.

His tall, slender body that was protected by a large umbrella was pressed against the just-as-tall frame of a woman who could only be his soulmate. His nose tickled hers, before he leaned in for a deep kiss.

Looking away, you ignored the burning in your chest and the new glowing mark on the back of your hand, placed right over your old soulmate mark.

A swirling little mark that looked somewhat like a ribbon, the start of it black but slowly fading off into white on the opposite end.

'Why so soon... and why must he already have his soulmate. I'll have to avoid him as much as possible... until it happens.'

A/N: I kept changing the color of the Soulmate Mark, but I finally decided on one. Sorry about that TT but a future character will explain about them in later chapters!
