"So I have a question," Alvar said after Sophie and Fitz had told their story of what had happened. "Where's my boat?"

Sophie and Fitz grinned at each other before Fitz said, "It's on some beach five minutes from here,"

Alvar glared at Fitz. "I paid good money for that thing—thirty bucks, to be exact."

"Sorry," Fitz said with a shrug. "You can always go get it tomorrow,"

It was true, but Alvar still grumbled about it even when Alden and Della started a fire and they made s'mores

"Alright," Biana said as the sun started to set. "It's time,"

"Time for what?" Sophie asked, totally confused.

"On our first day in Hawaii we tell the story of what our favorite part of the year has been," Biana explained. "And it doesn't have to be touching or anything—as long as you understand it, you can say it,"

Sophie nodded, now understanding. "Who goes first?"

"Usually we go in birth order—but since you're the guest, you get to go last so you can understand the game better." Alvar said, still sending glares Fitz's way. "So dad will go first,"

Alden smiled, looking like he was thinking before saying, "Um...my favorite part of this whole year was probably meeting up with my best friend that I hadn't seen in twenty years." He said it looking at Sophie, and Sophie smiled back at him. "Alright Della, it's your turn."

Della smiled before saying, "My favorite was when I sold two-hundred dresses in one day," She said it with a smile that was very contagious, so everyone smiled too. "Now it's your turn Alvar,"

"My favorite was when I went to Mexico," He said. "Because they were making cactus art and it was really cool. Fitz, your turn,"

"My favorite part was when I picked Sophie and Keefe up from detention and then we had dinner at her house afterwards. It was really fun," He said, smiling at Sophie widely.

"Oooh! My turn!" Biana practically shouted. "My favorite part of the whole year was seeing the look on Dex's face when he found out I had gotten him The Great Book of Electronics. It was probably the happiest I've even seen someone in my whole life." She grinned before turning to Sophie. "Your turn!"

"Um..." Sophie thought for a minute. This had been such a good year—she couldn't possibly pick one. But then something clicked in her head.

"Well," She began. "My favorite part of the year was when me and a friend had just gotten ice cream and we sat on the beach and just watched the sun go down,"

"That's a good one," Alvar said. "I wish someone would give me ice cream and sit on the beach with me."

Della smiled at him. "Well we have a whole tub of ice cream in the freezer and you can sit out here as long as you want—everyone else, get ready for bed."

Alvar grinned. "Mom, you had me at tub,"

Sophie followed Biana back into the house and they each took a shower before getting in bed. But just as Sophie was about to fall asleep, Biana asked her a question.

"The friend you sat on the beach with was Keefe, wasn't it?" She asked looking at Sophie.

Sophie nodded. "I got him a puppy for a late birthday present, and then we sat on the beach and ate ice cream,"

"That sounds very romantic Miss Foster," Biana said, wigging her eyebrows. "Do you have something you want to tell me?"

Sophie rolled her eyes before hitting Biana with her pillow. "We're just really good friends," Sophie told her.

Biana nodded before she yawned. "Well, I'm going to go to sleep—goodnight,"

Sophie yawned as well before shutting her eyes. "Yeah—goodnight,"

"You're finally up!" Biana announced when Sophie walked into the living room that morning. "We all got up around eight-thirty this morning."

"Maybe she needed some beauty sleep," Fitz asked, smiling at Sophie.

Sophie rubbed the sleep out of her eyes, smiling back at Fitz. "Why were you all up so early?"

Biana shrugged. "It's just something we do when we're at Hawaii. At first, our parents got super mad because they said they needed sleep, but then it just became a tradition."

Sophie nodded. "So...where are your parents—and Alvar?" She asked, noticing the oldest Vacker wasn't there.

"The three of them went to the store to pick up some groceries for lunch and dinner." Fitz said. "If you're hungry, there's breakfast in the kitchen," He told her.

Sophie shook her head. "I'm not that hungry,"

"Well," Biana said after there was a really long silence hanging in the air. "I think me and Sophie are going to go walk on the beach—don't follow us," She looked at Fitz for the last part.

Fitz shot his hands up. "I won't,"

Biana nodded before motioning for Sophie to follow her. They both walked out the back door and on the beach. At first it was really quiet, but then Biana spoke.

"So, are you having fun so far?"

Sophie nodded. "I am—I can't believe I haven't even thought about my parents," Sure she thought about them, but it didn't make her sad like she thought it would.

Biana nodded before grinning. "So about last night—what kind of puppy did you get Keefe?"

Sophie smiled. "I got him a Dalmatian and he named it Oakley,"

"Wow," Biana said. "Don't those cost a lot?"

"They do—but I told Edaline about it and she said she'd pay the rest while I was gone," Sophie said, glad to have a caring and understanding mom.

It was quiet for a second as they walked closer to the water, and then Biana said, "I know we talked about this last night, but are you sure you don't like Keefe as more than a friend?"

"Yes, I'm sure," Sophie said, even though her cheeks became very hot. "Why do you ask?"

Biana sighed. "Because—at school—when you're with Keefe you're always smiling and you look so happy."

"Don't I look happy with Fitz?" Sophie asked, turning to her friend.

Biana shrugged as another sighed escaped through her lips. "Yes, but...it's a different kind of happy."

Sophie was super confused. How could you look different when you're happy? Wasn't happy just one solid emotion?

Sophie was one-hundred percent sure that she was in love with Fitz—but the next thing Biana said kind of made Sophie worry:

"Sophie, I can't interfere with your choices, but I just don't want you to get hurt. Just...be careful,"

So I know you Sokeefe shippers are hating on me right now, but I promise there will be some Sokeefe before the story is over. I PROMISE.
