A promise is a promise. I can’t imagine even beginning to tell anyone about what happened. It is the kind of thing that you tell, and everyone wants to forget.

Only I know what happened that day when my sister stepped on the bus. The bus driver welcomed her as he did every morning. It seemed to be a normal school day, until the unthinkable happened. The bus driver realised that he made a wrong turn and as he did and illegal u turn to get back onto the main road, another bus crashed head on with Lissa’s bus. Everyone inside panicked. All of the people on the bus survived and my sister nearly died. She suffered head injuries, and immediate pain shot through her legs and up through her arms. That day she could have died. But when she came back home to recover, she was different. She always looked as though someone inside her head was telling her what to say, when we tried to talk to her.

One day, she decided to tell me what really happened.

“ That day, someone was there. I was in pain thinking I was going to die, and a man walked beside me and healed me. It is so crazy, but there is no other explanation for it. I turned around to question the stranger. But he was gone.”

“ That’s impossible.”

“I know what happened”

“You were probably unconscious and dreamed it up!"

“If you don’t believe me, watch”

She dug her nails into my wrists and I screeched in pain. She rested her hands on my shoulders and closed her eyes. All the pain that I was experiencing vanished.

I stumbled back to a corner of the room, realising there was a lot more that happened that day then a horrible accident.

“Come with me Beck, I can’t stay here the way I am. I need to know what happened to me and who the man who healed me was”

Her voice turned to a whisper “Maybe he can explain the whole thing to us, and then we can return back to normal”

I felt a fit of rage go through my body “You can’t just leave Mum and Dad here, they would freak!!”

“They have got Daniel”

Daniel is our brother. He is nineteen and works at a Law firm. He is insanely smart. Compared to our family he is not normal. But would it work having Daniel there alone with Mum and Dad while were gone?

My thoughts were spoken aloud.

“Does he know?”

“ No”

She looked into my eyes as she continued “I need you to help me, I didn’t believe about what happened. But what has happened to me I can’t ignore. Please”

I saw reason in what she said. “We can’t stay here like this”. Her words swirled around in my head.

“Alright”

She ran into my arms and squeezed me tight. “We will make it work together, Beck”.

                                                                             . . . .

After talking with Beck, a huge wait lifted from my shoulders. I did not know how she was going to handle the news. But she was the strongest one out of the both of us.

We didn’t tell Mum and Dad, but I wish I did. I feel like a different person. Something I didn’t want to tell Beck about the accident still lurks in every dream. Everything needs to be out in the open, but something inside my head is telling me not to.
