~Alex's Party~

"Heyy", I waved, seeing Zach, Clay and Alex's brother. "Am I late?" I asked.

"No. Look at you Ella, you've really grown up", his brother hugged me. "Thanks Peter" I sat between Zach and Clay.

"Turns out you only need one hand to whoop your old man at Skee-Ball." Alex's dad commented, throwing a stuffed bear on the table. "You should've challenged me at Dance Dance Revolution", Alex replied. I laughed. "Hey Ella. You came" he looked slightly shocked. "Your my bestie Standall can't get rid of me that easily."

"It's my birthday. You're supposed to laugh at my jokes as Ella did," he said, taking the bear off the table. I noticed the faces everyone made. Wow.

"All right. Wings. Fries. And curly fries." Mrs Standall announced, placing the baskets in front of us, "Burgers will come up when they're ready." She said, sitting down. "Thanks, Mom," Alex thanked. Everyone said they're thanks. "Ella, you made it, Hi sweetie. Do you want some coke?" She asks, picking up the jug. "No, thank you I'll stick with water for now", I replied politely.

"You guys got all your game cards?" She asked, "Yeah thank you, Mrs Standall" Zach spoke for everyone. "Hey! Jess!" He waved her over, Alex got up to greet her, but his brother got up to help him. I watched their dad hold him back; he doesn't realise Alex isn't as fragile as before.

I took some fries, eating them. "Hey", Jessica said, coming back with the teddy bear. Maybe they do like each other again. After we finished eating, everyone started playing games and talking. I noticed Tyler came in, Zach and Jessica confronted him. I walked over to hear what they were saying.

"No Alex told me to come," Tyler told them. "Tyler, he was just being nice. He doesn't want you here," Jessica said rudely. "Jess a bit harsh", I chastised her. "I wanna talk to Alex. Okay, look, I brought him something," Tyler said politely. I noticed Alex getting up.

"What? Oh, happy birthday, Alex. Here's a photo book of you in a coma?" Zach asked. "He told you about that?" Tyler looked so fragile. "Get out. Now." Zach demanded, getting in his face. "Zach, what the hell this isn't your party!" I pushed him back. Tyler just stared at him, then walked off.

"Not cool Zach what's your problem?" I scoffed, rolling my eyes. Tyler didn't do shit. "Wait. Where is Tyler going?" Alex asked. "Don't worry. We got rid of him," Zach replied cooly. "No, I told him to come," Alex said. "I'll go see if I can catch up to him" I walked outside.

"Tyler! Tyler!" I yelled. Wow, he walks quickly.

"What!" He whipped around. "I'm sorry Zach and Jessica were being major idiots. Alex wants you there come back," I informed him. "It...It doesn't matter! Zach and Jessica are still gonna treat me like shit regardless!" He yelled angrily. I didn't know how to respond to that. I tugged on my sleeves. "I..I... I'll see you tomorrow bye" he turned and continued walking.

I sighed and went back inside. "He's gone. Thanks, alot Zach. Jess." I rolled my eyes, sitting at the table. "This is the saddest birthday party ever," Alex sighed. Everyone looked at him. "I mean he's not lying" I shrugged. Zach's phone started ringing.

Wow was all I could think after hearing him speak.

"The guys?" Alex asked, "You're out with the guys?"

"I just told her I'd go home and watch May", Zach replied. "Home from what?" Alex asked. You could tell he was hurt. "Why'd you lie about where you are?" Alex asked again. "I wasn't sure..." Alex cut him off. "Of course you should lie to her and everybody cause that's better than admitting you're my friend?"

"She knows you're my friend," Zach lied, trying to cover his ass.

 "Bryce know where you are?"

"Come on, man."

"Fuck you, Zach!" oop

"Okay," his mom said, trying to break it up. "Go home."
"Yeah, I should. Thank you guys so much for having me " he got up, taking his jacket. "You don't have to go Zach", Alex's dad spoke up.

"I'm gonna go play some games," Alex said, getting up. I got up, too, cause they all looked sad and would ruin my vibe. I watched him play with the gun. Should I say something? I don't want to upset him.

"Hey buddy", his dad looked at me. "What are you doing?" He asked Alex. "Just playing a game, Dad," Alex replied. "Okay, maybe this isn't the right game to be playing now," he said gently. "Why not? I'm really good at it" I looked at everyone.

"Let's play another round of Skee-Ball..." his dad said, pulling his arm a bit "No, Dad, fuck that!" Alex yelled at him. "Alex", his mom let out exasperatedly. "Alex maybe you should listen to your parents I mean-" he glared at me. "Seriously Ella", he rolled his eyes and looked at the screen.

"Give me this thing. That's enough." His dad tried pulling the gun away. "Fuck, no!" He tried fighting him. "Fuck, no!"

His dad pushed him, and he ended up falling. "Alex jeez", I groaned, putting my hand in my face. "All right, buddy, I'm sorry. Come here." His dad tried to help him up, but Alex did not want his help.

"Fucking let me go!" He struggled out of his dad's grip. "I'm broken, okay?" He got up for himself. "I'm fucking broken. That's how it's gonna be. Why don't you just live with it?" He yelled. "Alex, you're not broken." His brother says to him. "How the fuck would you know? I've seen you twice since I got out of the hospital," he chastised his brother. "I had school", Peter defended himself.

"I had fucking school, too!" Alex yelled, "And I had friends. Now I don't have anything except all of you standing around feeling sorry for me, not fucking knowing what to say? Maybe it would've been better if it'd worked right" he picked up the toy gun pointing it at his head "Put the bullet through my brain the way it was supposed to go." I started tearing up. "Stop!" His mom yelled, obviously distraught. I went over to her and held her.

"Wouldn't that be better? You could get on with your stupid fucking lives." He kept yelling, "Alex, that's not tr-" but Jess cut me off, walking towards him. "Fuck you, Alex. Okay? Shut up. Just shut up." Clay walked up behind her to pull her back. "Jess."

"No", she shrugged him off. "Listen to me, you asshole. How could you do what you did? After Hannah, I needed you. Ella needed you. You were the only one I could trust, the only one who understood what I was going through, and you were gonna fucking leave me behind? That's messed up, Alex. It's messed up." She yelled.

"I'm sorry", he apologised. "Everybody here loves you, and you just don't care."

"I do care. I care. I'm sorry" Wow, leave it up to Jess to make him all soft and see the error of his ways. She walked off. I saw Mr Standall come over to us; I moved away so he could comfort his wife. I called Cyrus to come to get me.

I stood outside humming to myself. I saw him pull up. "Hey, cutie need a ride?" He called. I giggled and jogged down the stairs into the car. "Onward!" I waved my hand excitedly. We talked a bit until I saw a girl. "Cy look at her", I pointed. "We really shouldn't pick anyone up it's late" he stared through the glass.

"Just get closer please" he drove closer. I rolled down the window. "Hey, you okay?" I noticed she only had on a dress and it looked ripped. She didn't have on any underwear either, blood dripping down her legs.
She looked up at me. "I want my mom", she started crying. "Cyrus I think she was attacked we gotta help her", I pleaded with him. "Fine", he stopped the car. We got out and helped her inside the car.
"I think I have a sheet in the trunk," he said to me. I nodded. "Lie down okay your safe", I gently coaxed her.

"Here," he handed me the warm blanket. I took it and gently placed it over her. "What's your name?" I asked. "I want my mom. Everything hurts!" she cried profusely. "Shit this is bad we need to get her to the hospital," Cyrus said to me, starting up the car. I closed the door and got back in front.

We made it to the entrance of the E.R. "I'll go get a nurse you help her out", he told me. I opened the door; she was still crying. "Hey, we're here. Your safe come on" I helped her up. "Please don't let them hurt me again. Please. Please." She grabbed my hand. "They won't, they won't I promise," I comforted her.

"We'll take her. Do you know her name?" The nurse asked. "No she was walking down the side of the street", I explained. "Ella, let's go", Cyrus whispered in my ear. "But" I frowned. "Ella there's nothing left for us to do" he held my hand.
