Every child had their own dream.

Most dreamt of becoming a doctor, some dreamt becoming of a police officer, the others dreamt of becoming an engineer.

But Kim Taehyung was not just like any other child, he always stood out amongst the crowd. He was a dreamer, with his curious bright eyes and wide rectangular smile.

Always a curious little one, often wandered around and wondered about. He was an optimistic kid, always saw the good in people and expressed himself openly with confidence—a trait he inherited from his mother.

So, when his kindergarten teacher had asked little 5 year old Taehyungie what his dream was, his answer didn't disappoint.

"My dweam is to meet my destined mate." 

He had answered it with hopeful eyes and a coy smile, heart warming when his teacher ruffled his hair fondly and said, "And you will, Taehyungie. When the time is right, one day, you'll meet your mate."

Taehyung could only nod in excitement and beam at her then, running on his short legs to the swing set where his other classmates were playing.

But that dream was crushed, however, when another small boy sat beside him as Taehyung tried to reach out to the sun shining above them, big and bright on the cloudy blue sky.

"What are you doing?" The boy asked, bunny teeth peeking from his mouth, doe eyes staring at him. "Reaching for the sky." he answered happily, outstretching his small chubby hands further.

"What for?"

"So I can reach my dream too."

"And what is that?"

"To meet my soulmate!" Taehyung exclaimed giddily, facing the other boy and smiling brightly at him that it resembles the sun.

The boy furrowed his brows in confusion and blinked at him, cutely scrunching his nose in thought before he settled a hand on the other's shoulder to bring his hands down.

"Stop it, you might hurt your arms," He says, which Tae obliges because his arms are starting to hurt from holding them up for too long. "Your just wasting your time, soultwins aren't real." He continues with a nod, shaking his head.

Taehyung looks outright scandalized as he looks back at the other with an over exagerated gasp, puffing up his chubby cheeks before glaring cutely at the boy.

"It's soulmates, and it's true." he says, pouting. "Whatever, it isn't real either way."

"It's true."

"It's not."

"It's true—"

"No, it's not."

"It's true!"

"It's not!"

"It's true!"

"I said, it's not!"

The hand on Taehyung's shoulder shoves him away with as much force as the other five year old boy could muster, which isn't a lot, really. But it was enough for little Taehyungie to be pushed back onto the grass, landing with an "oof".

Suddenly, his eyes start to water and the sky above him gets blurry. His bottom lip quivers and his face scrunches up as his tears start to pour out.
