I don’t know where I am.

I don’t know who I am.

It’s cold.

I’m cold.

And I’m scared.

It’s dark. I feel sick to my stomach.

I have a pounding headache.

My left leg is dragging behind me.

I have cuts and bruises all up my body.

My arm is twisted at a funny angle.

I start to cry.

There’s a noise.

I take my head out of my hands and look up.

I’ve stopped crying.

There are two bright lights next to each other, coming closer and closer.

The thing stops next to me.

It is a car.

Two men step out.

One stays in the car at the wheel.

The men come towards me.

They wear uniforms.

They are saying something.

‘It’s okay. We’re the police. You can trust us. You’re going to be okay,’ the policeman on the left reassures me.

I start to cry again.

I’m not going with the police.

I back away until my back rests against a tree.

I slide down.

I’m screaming now.

Something about how I’m lost and not remembering anything or anyone.

And one of them comes and picks me up.

They put me in the car.

It’s warm.

They tell me I’m going to be fine.

And I trust them.

I go to sleep.
