side note: yes gilbert is gilbert blythe so feel free to think of lucas as the face claim
-"felicity come on! you've got to the tell me" max insisted, pulling on the other girl's arm.
they were currently walking to gilbert's house for his party, both girls had been invited on their own account but let will think he was inviting them.
"i don't know what you're talking about" the redhead with much shorter hair replied, not budging.
"quit playing dumb, i know there's something going on between you two" max stated, unconvinced.
"fine, we've been seeing each other out of school" she mumbled quietly.
"like on dates?" max squealed.
"yes- can we talk about something else?"
"ugh fine, i'll let it pass...for now."
"i like your shirt" felicity said, desperately changing the topic.
"i wear it every day-" max said, giggling.
she was wearing a simple black tube top with some semi-high waisted jeans and an all too familiar sweater that didn't belong to her.
"yeah but it's nice, take the compliment loser"
felicity was wearing a blue button up crop top with jeans similar to max's but looser at the ankles.
"take the compliment, loser" max mocked, brushing her fingers through her hair.
"oh shut up" she mumbled, nudging the other girl's shoulder.
"h-hey guys!" they heard a voice yell behind them.
both redheads turned to face will who was running across the street to them.
"hey byers, we were just talking about you" max greeted him.
"no we weren't" felicity quickly added, turning a dark shade of red.
to save her best friend from further embarrassment max challenged them a race, "last one there owes me 50 bucks" she yelled, running from them.
the other two teens quickly followed.
-
all three were standing in front of the house, out of breath.
max stood victoriously a couple feet in front of the other two.
"you know i'm not gonna pay you, right?" he said, having been the last one to arrive.
max simply rolled her eyes as she stepped into the house which was already packed.
it smelled like teen spirit: weed and alcohol.
the house was dark, only set up led lights illuminated the house. the sun wasn't closing much since it had already set.
on the opposite side of the house stood the infamous mike wheeler, sipping on a bottle of beer.
the party had only been happening for about an hour and a half but he was already semi-buzzed.
"hey mike, you want another one?" lucas asked, holding up a beer.
he shaked his head, taking another sip from his unfinished one.
mike spotted jane walking towards them and she stopped besides lucas, murmuring something in his ear.
lucas quickly glanced at mike before being pulled away to the living room.
mike sighed. he put his beer bottle down, heading towards the dinning room, hoping to find someone to shag before his eyes landed on a particular redhead.
he almost missed her with the lights being so dim, almost camouflaging her red curls.
he lightly smirked before heading over to her.
max was just standing there, occasionally bopping her head to the rhythm of the music blasting through the speakers.
she might've been present, at the party, but her mind was elsewhere.
will and felicity had left her to do "something". she could already picture them making out in some random bedroom.
her best friends intimacy made her feel particularly lonely.
of course she was happy for them, but she wished she had something similar.
"hey there" mike whispered in her ear as his hands rested on her waist.
max shivered but mike hadn't noticed.
she turned around, "mike- we're in public you idiot" she mumbled.
the taller boy looked around before meeting her eyes, "everyone's buzzed, no ones paying attention. besides, i miss you".
if anyone had been listening in on their conversation they would've thought they were a cute couple that dealt with long distance.
unfortunately, that's not the case.
mike didn't miss her,
he missed the sex.
max thought.she rolled her eyes but nonetheless, she gave in.
"you're pathetic" she replied as she pulled him into an almost empty hallway, making sure nobody followed.
"nice jacket" he said, ignoring her remark.
"thanks" she smirked, wrapping her arms around his neck.
mike was about to lean in to kiss her when a figure grabbed his shoulder which caused mike to duck max's head down.
she took the hint and kept looking down.
"living room. spin the bottle. five minutes" they yelled over the loud music.
after hearing his voice, max had realized it was gilbert who was talking.
"thanks, i'll be there after i'm done with heather here" he said, winking at gilbert.
max always wondered why mike wanted to keep her a secret. not that max wanted to be known as a whore or anything, but she didn't really like the secrecy either.
sometimes she wondered if she'd be a secret if she were any other girl, which only drove her mad.
why was she obsessing over mike wheeler????
gilbert nodded, understanding what was happening. he seemed to of believed mike's lie- that max was actually 'heather'.
and with that, the slightly shorter boy walked away.
"where were we?" mike smirked, who seemed not to care that they'd almost been caught.
"what the fuck, wheeler?? you're lucky he's drunk or he would've put two and two togeth-"
mike cut her off by planting his lips over hers in a possessive type of way.
as if he wanted to mark her, claim her.
the redhead quickly kissed back but sensed some hesitation from mike's side which he quickly covered up by sliding his tongue in her mouth.
almost as quick as it had started, it ended.
mike pulled away, slightly pushing the girl away from him.
"maybe you're right" he began, looking down.
"this" he continued, pointing a finger between them, "shouldn't leave the janitors closet".he wiped his mouth and walked back to the kitchen for another beer.
"asshole" max muttered, still processing what had just happened.
