Part 01

-FLASHBACK-

It was raining heavily, I woke up when I heard screams downstairs.

Dala ni mama ang mga damit ni mama pababa at tinapon niya yon lahat sa labas ng pintuan namin. Wala siyang pakielam kahit na naulan.

"I told you Arthur. I told you to leave that bitch." my mom said while tears streaming down her face.

"Please Amelia. Please give me another chance" pagmamakaawa ni papa.

"I've given you multiple chance already, God knows how much I love you but I've had enough." my mom sat on the floor "I've had enough."

Kinuha ni papa ang mga damit niya sa labas at nilagay niya yon lahat sa maleta.

He was about to leave when ate walked down the stairs, I think she already knows what's happening.

"Papa you're leaving without saying goodbye?" my ate said.

Lumapit siya samin at pareho kaming hinalikan sa noo. "I'm so sorry my girls, but your mom is right, I've hurt her so much already, I think it's time for me to go" 

At that time, we were all crying. 

"Papa please don't leave us" I said while hugging him. At that time I don't want to let go.

"I'm so sorry I need to go" tinanggal niya ko sa pagkakayakap sa kanya.

Hinabol ko siya hanggang sa labas, hoping he would change his mind but he didn't. The heavy rain poured down my face, so as my tears, as I watch my father leaving us without any explanation.

We moved to another city, and we had to transfer to another school to continue our studies.

After a few months, I started my Senior Year at Campbell University.

"Axel.." nautal ko.

"Can I sit here?" he said, referring to the chair in front of me. Tango lang ang nasagot ko.

"So how have you been?" he asked

"Fine I guess." kasual kong sagot

"You guess huh, so tell me why are you here?" he asked

"Personal reasons, you don't have to know."

He was about to speak when both of our pagers beeped.

"Can I go with you?"

"As if you're going somewhere else" tumawa siya.

Sabay kaming bumalik sa ospital and when we got there, we saw an ambulance carrying out a patient.

"What do we got Mae?" he asked.

"James Martinez, 17 he lost control and hit a car and went 10 feet to the air then landed on a tree branch" When I heard that I immediately knew that this is gonna be one hell of a surgery.

"Let's go Eli he has to be operated immediately."

"Nurse prep him" I said

Naglakad na kami papunta sa operating room

We started operating on the boy.

"His kidney is gone." I said.

"Just focus on keeping him under control" Axel said.

"Get ready everybody we got a long way to go." he said to everyone

We've been standing for hours, i don't know but something inside me is telling me that he knows I'm tired.

"Dr. Villanueva update the father about how are we doing right here." why is he doing this?

"Huh?"

"Are you going to make me repeat myself?" he asked flatly.

"Uh no Im on it" I went outside to talk to the father of the patient.

"Mr. Martinez" I called the father. He stood up and walked towards me.

"How is he? I mean is he okay? You've been operating for hours"

"There are a lot of  damage, we've had to remove one of his kidneys."

"B-but the branch is out right I mean he's going to be alright, right?

"Sir you have to understand its hard to remove the branch out of his body, it might cause more internal bleedings and we are trying to avoid that."

"Please tell me he's gonna be okay"

"I'm sorry sir I cannot guarantee you and I need to go back in there but I promise you we will do our best." he shook his head. i feel sad for him.

I walked back towards the operating room and helped into getting the branch out of the boys body.

"3, 2, 1" Axel said and we pulled the branch out of the boys body

"BP is dropping" the nurse said

"He's bleeding, he's bleeding fast damn it" Axel was pretty pissed.

We tried everything we could, but we couldn't stop the bleeding. Wow, my first patient in this hospital just died, great start self.

"Talk to the father Eli" 

"You can call me Dr. Villanueva, Dr. Rodriguez" 

"Whatever. Eli" he's really pissing the hell out of me.

I walked towards the father again.

"I have very bad news Mr. Martinez" he cried immediately.

"There was so much bleeding when we pulled the branch out of his body and we couldn't stop it. We tried to stop it as quick as possible but his body didn't take it." I explained to him.

"I told him to never take the car without me" he was crying

"I understand sir I'm so sorry for your loss."

I wrapped up all my paper works in my office, I was about to leave when Astrid entered.

"Wow iba ka din talaga no? First day mo palang nilalandi mo na agad si Axel" baliw na baliw talaga to kay Axel.

"I was working with him"

"Working huh"

"I don't have to explain to you, and so what if Im flirting with him? The last time I checked, you're not together." I grinned. Then left the office.

I walked towards my car, I was about to get in when someone shouted.

"Elizabeth!!" lumingon ako

I cannot believe my eyes. He walked towards me.

"Oh my god Tyler you're also here?" we hugged.

Tyler is my friend from Campbell. He was Axel's bestfriend.

"Yeah I've working here for a year now"

"That's good that's really good" 

"Anyway what time is you're shift tomorrow?"

"Morning."

"Great! I'll tour you around the hospital and ipapakilala kita sa mga interns and nurses" Tyler is really the jolly one.

"That's good I'll see you tomorrow then." We hugged one more time.

I was driving on my way home when my phone beeped.

Pick me up at the airport. I'm in New York ^_^
