I had washed the dishes, folded the laundry, cleaned Moon's litterbox, and fed Orion.

"Kaelin Garret!!" My mother had called from her office.

I inhaled slowly, and exhaled carefully. "Yes, mother?"

"Would you call your father?"

"Yes, mother." I wiped my hands on my apron, pushing each button with special force to be sure I put the number in correctly.

"This is Robert Darling, how may I be of service?"

"It's Kaelin, father. Mother wants you."

"I'll be right down, sweetheart."

I heard the dial tone, so I hung up the phone. I walked over to Mother's office door. "Mother, I'm making pot roast and corn. Would you like me to make cookies, also?"

She smiled, her eyes still on the microscope. "Oh, please, Kaelin. Could you make sugar cookies with holiday frosting?"

"Of course." I walked back into the kitchen, bringing out the meat and putting into the ceramic heating bowl Aunt Mae got Freddy for Christmas, but he sent it back to us. It's called a...CrockPot, that's what the label says. I had cooked the corn, and put it into a heat contained bowl. I set out the cookie sheet and they were all warm and gooey when I shaped the orange frosting into a pumpkin.

I set them up on pretty orange ceramic plates the twins gave mom for her birthday one year and put them out on the counter. The food was ready, the table was set, the chairs were pulled out, everything was perfect.

My door was locked and closed when I came up to it. I dug the key out of my apron pocket and snuck in. I changed into black leggings and blue shorts, a grey muscle tee, and black adidas. I pulled my short brown hair from the ponytail and slipped my phone into my back pocket.

"Mom!"

"Yes, Kaelin?"

"The table is set and everything is ready. I have to go to the library and get some more books for exams."

"Ok, honey. Be safe!"

I rolled my eyes. Like she gave a fuck whether or not I died. I locked my door and set out for the car. I made sure nobody saw me as I ran across the street and walked along the shadows of the trees.

"Hey, X." I smiled at my best friend as I rounded the corner.

She laughed. "K baby!"

We hugged briefly. "Thank you so much for doing this, I owe you so much."

I smiled at her as we walked into the restaurant. "Yeah... what exactly are we doing?"

She smiled sympathetically. "We're on a double date."

I scoffed, stopping where I was. "I have a boyfriend!"

She nods, pulling me along. "Just please, K. Nobody has to know."

I rolled my eyes, trudging after her. "All right." We came up to a table with three guys, not two. "You said double date."

She grins. "Yeah, but his friends wanted to come, too. Come on, K baby."

I smiled uncomfortably at the blonde sitting next to me. He smiled warmly. "I'm Luke." I returned the smile. The boy next to him smiled, also. "I'm Calum."

I nodded, turning to X's boyfriend. "Hey, Mikey."

He tore his eyes from X. "Hey, K baby."

The waitress had walked up with a glowing smile and her top pulled down a little too low. "Hi, my name is Jess and I'll be taking your order." She completely botches me and turns to Luke. "She bats her eyes and pushes her breasts together with her arms. "What would you like?"

I look at him, eyebrows raised. "Yeah," I scoffed quietly. "What would you like?"

He squirms in his seat. "I don't think we're ready yet. Give us a minute?"

The waitress puckers, winking at him. "All the time you need, babe."

She walks away and I hold my head in my hands. "Where the hell are we? Whores R Us?" I ask the group. Mike and X are giggling over the menu so I turn to Luke. "I don't know what she sees in you, babe." I use the same "sexy" drawl that Jess did.

He smiles at me. "I'm just so irresistible." He flicks his hair.

Calum laughs. "Everything about is resistible, Luke. She just has no standards."

I roll my eyes, turning away from them. I spot a male server and wave him down. "Yes, ma'am?"

I smile at him. "I am so sorry. Our waitress had an emergency and she told me to wave down a John to take our order." I looked at his name tag before I started speaking.

He smiles warmly. "Lily was your server?"

I nod. The fuck? Oh well, I'll use it.

He smiles. "Well, what can I get you folks?"

We give him our orders and he smiles at me. I blush, playing with the napkin. Ok, he's hot.

I turn to the group and Calum and Luke and Mike are staring at me while X is grinning. "What?"

"Wha- how- wh-"

I roll my eyes, slapping all their cheeks. "I'm a good liar."

Jess comes over. "Are you guys ready?"

I smile not-so-sorry. "Oh, sugar, we have a decent server now. Looks like you're off the hook." I smile. "Bye." She glares at me, stomping off, her butt moving with her. The guys laugh. "That was good." I wipe my hands. "I just saved you from Skanknstein so shut the hell up."

We eat our food and surprisingly, I don't have the worst time. As we're walking out, I spot Jess eyeing Luke. I discreetly take his arm and pull it around my shoulders. He smiles, he knows what I'm doing. I turn around to see Jess glaring at me. I laugh sticking up my middle finger for her and turn around. Luke leans down to whisper in my ear. "Should we kiss and make it more authentic?"

I laugh, pushing him off. "She can't even see us anymore. Shut up!"

He walks beside me, laughing.

"You knew what I was doing?"

He looks at me, then rolls his eyes. "If she didn't know what you were doing, she's sooo much dumber than I thought."

Ugh. Fucking boys.
