Once again, the car ride was silent, only this time it was made slightly more bearable by the fact that Sehun chose to drive his own car, meaning SooJung had an excuse to stare out of the window without being worried about his gaze on her as he focused on the road. Music played softly from the radio, but she noticed Sehun seemed somewhat tense, his hand clutching the steering wheel almost white. His sudden shift in mood happened when they had stepped out of the elevator and he had received a phone call and proceeded to speak in rapid Japanese. She hadn't understood a word of what he had said, but from his angry tone she knew whatever news he was getting, it wasn't good. After ending the call he'd opened the door for her to his black and proceeded to drive from the underground car park without a word.
She was curious about the phone call, but her mothers warning rung in her mind; Mafia women do not question their men about their work. So, she kept her lips shut whilst her emotions ran riot as different thoughts flashed through her mind. How dare he suddenly turn cold on her? Would he really kill her for asking? Why won't he at least say something? Should she say something? No - he's taking her on the date, he should speak first! Hadn't she made an effort for him and he was acting like this? Maybe she shouldn't have agreed to this, after all...
She silently raged until Sehun's phone rang again. Without bothering to pull over, he brought it to his ear and answered, once again speaking in a different language into it, so she couldn't understand his secret conversation, she was sure.
"My friend will meet you at the restaurant." He spoke to her when he hung up.
"Oh? Are we double dating?" She asked surprised, wondering if maybe that was why he was being so moody.
"I have work, so I won't be attending."
A lot of angry retorts sprung to her mind at that moment, but all were forced back quickly. It was best, she understood at that moment, to not speak at all because she knew it she did, she would most likely say something that would get her killed. They pulled up outside of a fancy looking Japanese sushi bar and Sehun remained in his seat while the doorman opened SooJung's door. She hesitated a moment, expecting an apology - expecting something, anything, from him, but he didn't even look at her, let alone speak. He remained facing forward, hands back to clutching his steering wheel in a death grip and his body tense, expression one of sheer anger as he stared ahead. She wanted him to look at her, at least acknowledge her, but he didn't.
With disappointment she quickly climbed out of the car and hugged her exposed arms as he raced away, leaving her standing on the curb, alone. How long she stood staring after his fading rear lights she didn't know, but long enough that she became aware of how ridiculous she was acting.
Turning to look at the doors of the restaurant, she found the doorman stood watching her, his expression one of pity. Head held high, SooJung walked through the door he held open into the lobby of the traditionally decorated restaurant and gave the woman standing at the welcome desk her name. Glancing behind SooJung - obviously looking for the other name on the reservation and finding her alone, the woman gave her a sympathetic smile as she lead her to a private table behind a beautifully decorated partitioning screen, her voice overly kind if she asked if SooJung would like any drinks and assuring her the tab was already covered - so she could order what she liked.
Ordering herself a glass of lemon water, SooJung sat at the huge table on her own and finally slumped in utter defeat. She hated herself for getting her hopes up, for actually having some kind of expectation for this 'date'. She'd obviously misjudged the situation completely wrong and had, for a moment, judged Sehun wrong. They'd never have a normal relationship, that much was obvious to her now.
