Sophie Foster lay asleep. Her hands were folded over her stomach and her golden curls were spread out on her pillow. Grady was out of town, so it was just her and Edaline.
Suddenly, her window flew open.
And so did her eyes.
A brown bag flew through the now open window and 2 black-cloaked figures followed. One of them opened the bag and passed a red bandana and a melder to the other one then grabbed 2 ropes out of it. the person with the ropes went over to Sophie and pressed his hand over her mouth.
"Sophie, I know you're awake. Go ahead and scream, I dare you."The voice of Alvar Vacker said. "The other figure pointed the melder to the door. "If you do, once Edaline comes in, Gethen will shoot her."
Gethen tossed the bandana to Alvar, who swiftly tied it around Sophie's mouth, constricting her from talking. Then, he flipped her over, tied her wrists, then her ankles. Finally, he took a small bottle filled with clear liquid and poured it onto the bandana. It was a sedative! She fought the darkness, but eventually, it took over. Gethen picked her up and stuffed her into the bag, then he tossed the bag out of the window, to the awaiting arms of Alvar.
It was no longer safe. Sophie Foster had just been kidnapped
