Reborn

Remember

Kagome grumbled as she watched her siblings chase and wrangle souls as they tried to run. This was boring. Souls ran and she chased them down. Some didn't try again and some continued. It was just a boring cycle. She was 15 years old. She heard someone approach and turned her head to see Kitaro approaching in his canine form.

"You look worse than death" he chuckled as he nuzzled his muzzle with hers.

She bared her fangs as him "this place is boring".

Kitaro leaned against her "mother and father were talking about going topside to visit their friend Inu Kimi".

"So what" she mumbled, sulking, "they are just going to leave us behind again. We never get to go topside".

"You were born at Inu Kimi's home and we stayed there for 2 years" he stated, "you were so attached to her son that you would only listen to him".

Kagome looked at him "I have no memories of any time on the earth" she shrugged him off as she stood up and walked away "tell mother and father I hope they have a good time".

Kitaro quickly chased after her "sis, wait up!" He called out, huffing when he finally caught up "mother and father have said they will take us with them if we want to go".

"Seriously?" She said, surprised and slightly excited as her tail wagged "they never take us, what's the reason?"

"We noticed how bored you seemed and figured a trip to above would be a nice change in scenery" Kazuhiko stated as he approached his pups. His canine size towered over them since he was easily 3x their size "your mother and I also discussed that you were old enough and mature enough that you could learn what we do among the living"

"This also is a chance for you to decide if you would rather live here in the underworld or if you would prefer to be with the living" Katsumi informed them as she approached to stand next to her mate. Her form slightly smaller than her male "do you want to come with us?"

"Yes!" Kagome nearly yelled. Anything to get out of this place and get a change.

"I want to come to" Kitaro commented.

Kazuhiko chuckled at their eagerness "then let's go" .

The trip was long, but simple. They arrived by early afternoon at Inu Kimi's home in the sky with the female inu there to greet them "So wonderful to see you again" she eyed the pups, "and you brought a a couple of your children".

The family took human form, Kazuhiko giving her a bow of greeting "yes, you remember our son, Kitaro and our daughter, Kagome".

Inu Kimi saw the pups bow and smiled "my, how they've grown. I still remember when Kagome destroyed my garden when she had a tantrum after learning you were leaving".

Kagome blushed, having no such memory "I apologize for what I did as a pup, I assure you there'll be no repeats".

"I'm sure" she agreed with a small laugh, "at 15 you've out grown your pup ways".

"Yes ma'am".

Inu Kimi gave a nod, "Sesshoumaru should be back by the time for evening meal. He went to visit his ward Rin and her family. She just had her 8th baby".

Katsumi clapped her hands, "oh that's so wonderful!"

Kagome watched her parents and brother follow the silver inu. She instead chose to explore the garden she had apparently destroyed. There were many flowers in colours of blues, yellows, pinks, and reds wrapped around a fountain in a beautiful display. She found it amazing as she approached them, picking a flower to smell. Such a difference from the underworld that was dark, gruesome, and had the smell of death and brimstone. The smell of the flower was delightful and she enjoyed the fragrance.
