The kingdom of Cordia was vastly known for its wealth, and prosperity. Travelers from all over the continent, and across the world, flooded their streets, looking for employment, housing, or even just a good time. Ships came in daily with imported goods from across seas, and exported fruits, vegetables, and other goods created within the kingdom. The king, Lord Sirius Grandevolia, was well respected by his people. Since his rule, the kingdom's wealth greatly increased. Food was plentiful. Relationships with neighbors were steady. The average citizen of Cordia was satisfied with the state of their kingdom, and supported King Sirius.d
There was one thing that the average citizen was unaware of. Their beloved king enjoyed the company of individuals bought with money. His playthings. It was a side of him that he kept locked away behind closed doors, and there was one particular plaything that he grew interested in. A male was recently brought in by a cloaked sorcerer. Wrapped in a white sheet, with hands and feet chained together, the male was presented to the king as a "humble gift". A gift that the king happily accepted, and hid the male away in his sleeping quarters, tying him to the bed until he had the time to pleasure himself.

He was careless. One of the new maids heard the male crying for help in the king's bedroom. She tried her hardest to ignore it. That was the king's room, after all. Nobody was allowed inside, but she was a mother of two children, and the voice crying out from inside the king's bedroom sounded far too similar to that of her oldest son. Without thinking, she freed the male from the ropes tied around his wrists, and ankles, and quickly thought of a plan to sneak him out of the palace.

A male staggered through streets crowded with strangers. He wrapped the cloak he'd been given around his shoulders. It was old, and a bit dusty, but it was the only kindness he'd been given since his capture. Home. He needed to get home. Where was home? His head hurt. He felt dizzy. Whatever that sorcerer gave him, it was messing with his ability to think clearly. Eventually, the male took a corner into an alleyway, trying away from the loud noises that made his headache worse. Next thing he knew, he was on the ground, about to pass out.

A small candle flickered in the corner of Reid's eye. The sound of something scratching against paper filled his ears. His eyes widened. Where was he? He shot up, the soft, white sheets collapsing on his lap. A small room. Two windows to the left with a wardrobe between them. A small round table with two chairs rested in the corner by the windows. A door to the right, and beside that, a desk with a flickering candle. Someone was sitting at the desk, scribbling away on a wide piece of paper, the edges curled upwards. His silhouette danced along the pale wall. The moment Reid sat up, the stranger's velvet, pointed ears twitched, and the stranger turned his head to the side. A pair of golden eyes peered over at Reid. Reid had never seen anything like him. As the stranger rose from his seat, a dusty black tail followed him gently. He wore a long brown jacket over a white shirt, and dark brown pants. An elegant black scarf with gold floral patterns at the ends was wrapped loosely around his neck.

"How do you feel?" The stranger asked, stepping towards the side of the bed. His voice was a bit ragged. Mid range, maybe a bit lower. Leaning over, he placed one palm against Reid's forehead, and the other on his own. No more fever. The medicine he bought seemed to have worked.

"The name's Ashiya. Just Ashiya. I'm an explorer from a distant kingdom. I gave you some medicine the last time you woke up, though you probably don't remember it. You were pretty out of it then."

"There's some food left for you if you want it. It's pretty late right now though, so that's all I can give you for now." He offered, flicking his tail towards the wooden plate resting atop the nightstand. Half the portion of meat, and most of the vegetable sides were set aside in case Reid got hungry when he finally woke up. Ashiya was curious about Reid's situation, but he thought it best to let the male tell him when he was ready. He could wait, and if Reid didn't want to tell him, that was fine as well.
