Damon sauntered up to Elena with a mischievous grin on his face. "You look stunning, if it isn't obvious." He held two glasses in his hand and offered one to her. "Your punch."

Elena smiled and took it. "Thank you. Did you spike the punch, Damon?"

Damon quirked an eyebrow. "Did you want me to spike the punch, Elena?"

Elena smirked. "Well, you are Mystic Falls resident bad boy, it's expected."

Damon frowned. "Just drink your punch." He lifted his glass to his lips and took a sip. "I would ask you to dance, but I have to keep an eye on Stefan tonight and I can't afford to get-" He looked her up and down. "-distracted." He sighed.

"What's going on? Stefan did seem off earlier when you came to pick us up."

Damon scanned the dance floor with his eyes and saw Stefan dancing with Caroline. "Caroline's wearing yellow, not exactly gold, but can't take any chances." He took her hand in his. "Come on, they're on the dance floor."

Damon took Elena out to the dance floor so he could see Stefan and Caroline better. He put his hands on her hips and swayed to the music.

"So, you can't ask me to dance unless Stefan is dancing with Caroline? Are you jealous? Do you like Caroline again?" Elena whispered.

Damon scoffed. "Please, I never liked Caroline. We had a thing. I have things with plenty of girls without getting attached. Caroline was a fun time that got way too clingy."

Elena scoffed. "Hey, that is one of my best friends you're talking about."

Damon furrowed his eyebrows. "I know, but you once asked for honesty and that's what I'm giving you."

Elena gulped. "Okay, uh, thank you for being so honest." He nodded. "So, in the spirit of honesty what's going on?"

Damon leaned close to her ear so she could hear his whispers over the music. "Stefan is worried about Caroline. He keeps having a dream that she dies and he is freaking out."

Elena gasped and pulled away slightly to look into Damon's blue eyes, when she saw he wasn't joking she tilted her head. "So what happens in his dream? How does Caroline die?" She asked.

Damon licked his lips. "Car accident, after a school dance, stefan is driving, they argue about something, then bam. Caroline is dead." He grimaced. "And she was wearing a gold dress."

Elena looked over at her friend in the arms of Stefan, wearing her new golden lace dress. "She's wearing gold tonight." Elena told Damon, worried.

Damon shrugged. "It's more yellow."

"No, Damon, the dress is literally called a golden sunrise. It's gold. The lightening makes it look yellow."

Damon frowned. "We need to leave. I'm driving. It might just be a dream, but I'm not letting this happen."

Elena nodded. "I agree. I'll get Jeremy and Bonnie. You get Caroline and-" She looked over to wear they wear dancing before. "Tyler?" She gasped.

Damon followed her eyes. "When did he get back?" He glared over at the couple dancing where Stefan was.

Elena shook her head. "I don't know."

"I have to find Stefan. Round up the others. It's definitely time to leave."

Elena nodded quickly and rushed over to Bonnie and Jeremy dancing close to the speakers blaring music.

Damon glared over at Caroline and Tyler once more than walked out to find something he didn't want to see, his little brother with a bottle of beer. He groaned and walked over to him.

"Stefan, are you drunk?"

Stefan looked up at Damon, a smug look on his handsome face. "I don't know, mom, am I?" He slurred.

Damon sighed and pinched the Bridge of his nose. "What happened?"

Stefan swallowed another swig. "Tyler is back just in time for the dance."

"I noticed." He rolled his eyes. "Where did you get the beer? The boarding school brats bring it? I know they already spiked the punch with rum."

"Having fun with Elena?"

"Don't chance the subject. I already told you, Elena sees me as a friend, that's it." He yanked the bottle out of Stefan's hand and gulped some down. "The resident bad boy of Mystic Falls."

Stefan scoffed. "You sound upset. Maybe if you got in less trouble you wouldn't have that reputation."

Damon growled and yanked Stefan up by his shirt. "Maybe if I didn't have to take the heat for you all the time I wouldn't have that reputation."

Stefan glared into Damon's eyes. "Get your hand off me. I have nothing to do with you using girls. You can blame Katherine for that one."

Damon shoved Stefan against the wall. "Shut up. We're going home."

Stefan pushed Damon back. "No, I-I have to talk to Caroline." He tried to walk past Damon, but Damon grabbed him by the arm. "Let go of me!"

"Hey, little brother, you and I both know you can't handle your booze, so let's stay out of the dance and just go home. What do you say?" He tried.

"No. I have to talk to Caroline."

"Look, I'm a dick, that's why Elena will never be more than a friend, but you are a good guy, Stefan." Damon held up his hands to keep Stefan at bay. "But when you drink you become worse than a dick and you're a lightweight. It's a bad combo, so let's just take a breath and turn it around."

Stefan shoved Damon further away from him. "I'm not leaving until I talk to Caroline! Tyler is just gonna hurt her again and I can't let that happen!"

"Damon?" Damon turned and saw Elena with wide eyes. "Is he drunk?"

"Yes, Elena, and he wants to go back inside to talk to Caroline."

"Oh, Stefan, I don't think that's a good idea. We're about to leave, right Damon? Caroline is coming with."

"Right. See, Stefan? Caroline is gonna leave with us so everything will be okay. Let's just go to the car." Damon tried to led Stefan down the stairs, but Stefan knocked him off and rushed back up to the door where Elena was.

"Elena, move. I need to see Caroline."

"Stefan, she is busy right now, but she is leaving with us. You can talk to her when we get back to your place."

Stefan frowned. "Busy doing what?"

Elena sighed. "Let's go back to the car." She put her hand on his arm to move him away from the door and he grabbed her wrist, holding it tightly.

Damon flew up the steps, grabbed Stefan's wrist, and twisted it. "Let go, little brother. If you hurt her. I will maim you." He glared at his brother.

Stefan glared back, but released Elena. "Caroline is talking to him, isn't she?"

Elena didn't answer.

Damon stood between Stefan and Elena protectively, but he was also blocking the door so Stefan couldn't barge into their high school and make a drunken scene. "Back away, brother. Let's go home, where the principal won't see how drunk you are, then you can talk with Caroline alone."

"No! Damon, I have to talk to her before we get in a car! Please!" Stefan begged with misty eyes. "Please."

Damon glanced over his shoulder at Elena. "Ask Caroline to come outside so Stefan can talk to her away from our school, please." Elena nodded. Damon looked back at Stefan. "Sit on the steps until she comes out here." To his surprise Stefan complied. "Oh and Elena?" He turned back to her. "Get Ric out here too. I may need back up." He whispered over his shoulder.

Elena nodded. "I'll get them. You make sure he doesn't hurt anyone again."

Damon took a deep breath.
