Anaya and her parents stared at Derek, like fishes out of water. Derek was right, she had no clue that he really was the only one. That literally stood between them and the evil that wanted that chip. Derek scratched the back of his neck, her parents seemed to take it well that he wasn't what they had them believing what he was. And it wasn't so much that they took it well as they didn't get that horror look and take Anaya and hid from him.
"Should we go to dinner? Or go straight to where I stash you where no one can find you?" Derek asked and Anaya blinked back at him and her thoughts stopped swirling around in her eyes.
"DEREK!"
"What? You guys where literally staring at me like fish! I had to get you to stop some how. Also I was serious about the stashing part, that needs to be sooner than later. Look I'm sorry that I ruined your plans with your parents. But I can't keep ignoring the fact that you're in danger and your parents are now in harm's way because of me." Derek said and Anaya saw his mood turn brooding."Whatever plans that we had can always get done another day. As long as we are all alive," Jason said as he stood up from the couch and away from Anaya's mother.
"We'll go into hiding, it's what's best for us right now." Jason reached down for Samatha's hand and pulled her up and hugged her to his side.
"Lead the way"*****************
After Derek made a few phone calls Anaya hugged her parents. Her and Derek was going to be hiding out in a different safe house than them. She had protested in the beginning, but both her father and Derek made a too good of a point. That it would be more difficult to track down two groups of people than it would to one big group.
"I promise that I'll find a way to keep in touch with you." Anaya said as she hugged her mother, tears slipping down her cheeks. Samantha wiped them away with her thumb.
"Anaya, love, listen to your young man, he knows what he's doing. I know that you don't like what we have to do. But this situation is much bigger than us. We can be used against him if we are not hidden away."
"Momma" Anaya leaned her cheek into her mother's palm. Even though she was a grown ass woman, sometimes you just revert back to being a child when you fear losing your parents. And she was scared out of her mind right now."Put your faith in God and let him worry about the rest, your young man is trying to protect the world. You be the rock in his world, now go we'll be fine." Anaya's mother said and Anaya hugged them both again, she held onto her dad tight before she could look up at him.
"I love you""I love you too baby girl" Jason said as he kissed her forehead. Derek grabbed her hand to tell her that it was time to go. She watched as her parents got into an SUV and as the bodyguard closed the door. She turned and followed Derek to the one that would take them to their safe house. And she allowed Derek to escort her inside and as he got in after her, both doors shut as their bodyguard got up in the front seat.
Derek thumped the roof twice to signal the driver that they were ready and they were off. He looked over at Anaya from the corner of his eye, he saw her wipe tears away. He was at a lose on what to do, he didn't know how to comfort anymore. He just knew when he was with her or around her, he didn't want to be left alone. But when he wasn't with her. He just wanted to be alone, away from people who told him that he wasn't alone. It wasn't that he question Anaya's love, he didn't, but he questioned everybody's else. So he made a guess and pulled her towards him in the seat. She curled up against him and let the tears flow.
It took awhile to get to the secluded cabin, they had to stop and get fuel multiple times. Anaya had fallen asleep on his lap, and he had a headache that had begun at his temples. Then it traveled to between his eyes, keeping him awake, he had to shut his eyes due the light hurting his head even more. With his eyes closed he remembered back. Was it really just this morning? It felt like ages ago that he had told Anaya and her parents everything. Just this morning that he told her that he no longer wanted to set the world ablaze. He really didn't, but he was tired of feeling like shit.
