Cupid's POV: Seventeen Years Before Present
I fly through the grand hallways of my mother's house, well, more like mansion. She had called for me earlier this morning, which can't be good, I mean, after being ignored for four months, being called upon by your mother means one thing: you're in trouble. My tiny, white wings carry me past the golden framed portraits of the most famous couples in all of history, all of which my mother, Venus, is infinitely proud of. Finally, I breeze into the grand throne room in which Venus is impatiently waiting for me.
"There you are! Do you know how long I was waiting? By Jupiter, the moment I start to think you are responsible, you pull this on me!" My mother screeches the moment she sees my pudgy little body. I sigh, obviously she has forgotten that I'm only a year old.
"I apologize, mother. Will you forgive me for keeping you waiting?" I say, trying to remain civil, the last thing I want is to get into another fight with She-Who-Must-Always-Be-Right.
Venus waves aside my apology, her face now buisness like. I shudder inwardly, the last time she had that face, she started the Trojan War, or at least I'm told.
"I'm starting to get bored, Cupid. Do you know how many people are having beautiful, loving relationships? Almost no-one, Cupid! There are no couples who risk their lives for one another, or go through trials that others wouldn't, just for the sake of love! What is this world turning into? Some kind of barren desert, that's what. One that will never see true love unless we help them, like we did in the beginning of time." Venus' face was full of passion as she speaks, talking about the one thing that she truly loves, even though she is the Goddess of Love.
I glare at her, what does she expect me to do? I'm only the child of the Goddess of Love, not the real deal. Why doesn't she figure it out herself?
"I want you to find a way to make this world worth watching again, do you understand? Shoot some arrows or something, just find a way." My mother pauses for a second. "You can go now."
As I fly out of her home, my feelings are bitter, angry, and annoyed. Why do I always have to do her dirty work? I'm only a baby, after all. If she wants something to watch, something she can watch she will get.****************************************************************************************************************
Cupid's POV: Three Years Before Present
You would think that being at the same school would make two people talk at least once, but no, the two children that I picked for Venus' entertainment were completely ignoring each other. I have avoided her advice of shooting arrows, but obviously if they are even going to make eye contact I have to do something.
My bright blue eyes search the crowd of teenagers, trying to find the average brunette that I chose. Why did I have to make it so hard on myself? Why couldn't I have just chosen the average head cheerleader and jock story and made this job infinitely easier. Oh, yeah, because I like the challengage. By Jupiter, I'm stupid.
Ah, there she is. I finally found the girl, whose name is Olivia Johnson, by the stone main building of her school, surrounded by her friends, who are a little... different. I reach behind me for my bow and arrows. I pull the arrow back and release, knowing that the arrow will reach its target.
Contrary to popular belief, the target doesn't fall in love with the first person they see after they are hit, they fall in love with whomever I want them to. So now, this Olivia girl will love, or at least like, the boy I picked out for her, Matthew Winters.
Now time to shoot him as well. I locate his wavy brown hair, and see him chatting with a fizzy haired brunette. Now, now, that won't do. I reach for my next arrow, but come up empty. Crap, I'm out of arrows.
Do I really want to go back home just to get more arrows or just let Olivia make him fall for her by herself? I think I'll let Olivia deal with it herself. What? I am fourteen year old boy now. What do you expect?
Hopefully, this will still go according to plan. Good luck to the two of you, I'll still be watching.Author's Note:
Do you guys like it? It's loosely based upon my life, but since my life is extremely boring, I'll add some more stuff. I know this chapter is really short, but I'll try to make the others longer!
Until next time!
