Part 1

she wasn't that interested in what her professor was talking about, he was only talking about something that they had previously done so she didn't need to listen as she already knew. once again, like most times, she was sat at the back of the room, consumed by her thoughts of what she would do when she got back to her apartment. when she noticed her professor change the slide which displayed their work to do after the lecture she quickly wrote it down and knowing that it had now ended she gathered her stuff and walked out of the room. in the midst of her rushing out of the door she didn't only just heard her professor call her name. she turned around and walked back to him, wondering what she had done. he smiled at her and she gave him a small smile in return.

"how are you today, arabella?" he asked her and she just nodded and smiled in reply. knowing that it was her way of saying she was good he nodded back, his smile still present.

"that's good, now the reason i called you back was that i had a question to ask you." he didn't wait for her to respond in any way as he turned to get some papers from his desk.

"ok, there is a course that starts next month that is based around linking textiles with art and i thought that you would want to attend as you study both parts." she grinned at him and eagerly nodded at his proposal.

"however," he continued on and her smile faltered a bit. "you have to create a piece to enter for the beginning of the course with another student who majors in art, as you major in textiles." she frowned as she knew this meant that she had to interact with a stranger and she tried to avoid that at all costs throughout her life. however, this was an opportunity that she couldn't just pass up as it involved talking so she nodded and he handed her the papers.

"i wasn't so sure if you would say yes but i am glad that you did arabella, i'm positive that you will succeed in this, good luck. see you tomorrow and i will introduce you to the other student" she smiled at him and gave a small wave as she left the classroom. she knew that she would have to do something like this sooner or later, she just didn't want to open up to anyone as she was scared, she had never done it before but she knew what it would lead up to, disappointment. she was a little bit excited to meet the other student though as she was passionate at art and textiles and she couldn't wait to start this piece.

she waited for about 10 minutes for her bus to arrive but her music soothed her mind and the wait felt much shorter. the bus journey its self took about half an hour but she didn't mind as she knew that when she got home she could relax for the night; she did have a lot of work to do before. she started to do her work as soon as she had changed out of her clothes into something much comfier. her work didn’t take that long as they had covered most of in the class today so when she finished she sat on her couch and got out her book and put some music on in the background; she felt totally contempt with life at that very moment until her doorbell rang. this bemused her as she never got guests as she didn’t have any friends so when she answered the door she was completely flabbergasted to see a tall handsome man standing on her doorstep. he smiled at her when she looked at him and he laughed a bit at her completely confused expression.

“hello, i’m emerson. i am the art major” by that time she had forgotten all about the course but she was still confused as to why he was at her door as she thought she would meet him tomorrow. so she gave him a small smile and nodded at him

“you must be confused as to why i am here? i live upstairs and i was told that you were my partner and so i came done to introduce myself early.” she was shocked to say the least, at firstly his friendliness but then by the fact that he noticed her.

“how do you know me?” she choked out, that was the most she had ever said to a stranger in a while. he was surprised that she spoke to him as he knew that she was almost mute.
