Marinette POV:

"You have reached the voicemail of Alya Cesaire, Please leave a message after the beep."

Marinette groaned as she was sent to voicemail yet again. Alya had been ignoring her for days now and she was confused.

She knew that something was off with her after the akuma attack but what?

Had she done something wrong? She couldn't think of anything she had done that could have upset her best friend. Maybe Lila had somehow managed to convince Alya that she was a terrible person?

A fear sat ominously in the pit of Marinette’s stomach. She couldn’t lose her best friend. But why would Alya believe Lila, she knew she was a liar.

No, Alya was her best friend, she wouldn't believe that she was a terrible person. Sure, she was friends with Lila but she wouldn't turn her back so fast without fact checking…. Right?

Marinette shook the jumbled thoughts consuming her days out of her mind for the moment, she needed to get ready for school.

Alya was probably going through something she didn't want to share. Maybe she had received a nasty hate comment on her blog. Maybe the way she had been avoiding her had nothing to do with her.

Marinette begrudgingly picked herself out of bed and got ready for school.

She looked at the time before leaving, how had she allowed herself to get so lost in her thoughts, she was going to be late!

She barely made it to school on time, running into the classroom a minute before the bell rang, earning her look from the teacher.

"Hey Nino, Adrien, Alya," Marinette said, waving to her friends as she sat down in her seat.

Nino and Adrien both said hello back, but Alya turned away, seemingly not hearing Marinette.

She sighed gloomy, she was so sick of this silent treatment.

Marinette sat down in the back of class, beside Kagami. Things were very awkward with her and Kagami, especially since her akumatized form had gone after her.

She wished that her and Kagami could be friends again. She really did have a habit of losing friends didn't she.

How had she gone from having two amazing friends, to them both supposedly  hating her now. How had it gotten to this?

How did she allow everything to become so...wrong.

"Marinette, we're changing the seating plan again, you need to move" Kagami said.

Marinette looked up to see Lila standing in front of her, glaring daggers. Marinette grabbed her bag and stood up.

"You better watch out Marinette" Lila whispered in her ear as she walked past the taller brunette.

Marinette tried not to let her confident front falter, as Lila smirked menacingly at her, before putting her deceiving innocent mask back on. She tentatively sat down in her new seat beside Adrien.

What did Lila mean? Was she going to do something? No, no she was just trying to get in her head....and it had worked.

"You okay Marinette? You seem really stressed out." Adrien asked, looking at her worriedly.

"It's… none of your concern," she told him, trying to sound nonchalant, knowing he wouldn't buy that she was fine. Adrien was too smart for that.

"Okay, well let me know if you need to talk about it." the blond boy told her, giving her a little playful nudge with his arm.

"Thanks Adrien, you're a great friend." Marinette said, feeling a little better knowing that at least someone had her back.
