(Old Edition)Remembering my story

Prologue

"Rinkei! Rinkei, wake up! T-the fire nation, their here!" One of the monks cried, waking me from my slumber. Usually I would ignore them and go back to sleep but, that name fire nation...it makes me shiver at the sound of that name. I knew this day would come, but to be honest....I'm not ready at all. But maybe, the monks are just joking, trying to prepare me. So with the monk finishing  his screaming to wake me up I jumped out of bed moaning.

"Ugh...What?!" I moan as I run my fingers through my neatly-combed hair, immediately messing it up. But no response, so I look up to see a...very frightened monk Hariti. And right there I knew, this not a joke. The fire nation, they are here.

"No. No. No! I-im not ready!" I cry.

"Come. We must leave!" He says very calmly as he grabs my arm pulling me out of my room. What happened? He was just freaking out a minute ago! But most importantly, where is he taking me? I can't leave! What about the others? Are we just going to let them die?!

"Wait! No, we can't leave them here! T-they w-will-"I stop as I burst out into tears.

"Rinkei! We have to! We need to hide you! We need to keep you alive!" He snaps as he pulls at my arm trying to make me come. But I'm not leaving! I'm not abandoning my family! Like Aang abandoned me... Wait Aang! He can help, he's the avatar!

"Aang! Where's Aang? He can help us!" I beam. But my happiness quickly fades as I see Hariti tear up.

"No. Aang- he, he i-is...." He stops as tears roll down his cheeks. "He's what?! Where is he?" I scream. Somethings wrong....what happened to my brother.

"HE IS DEAD! Rinkei, he's gone..." No..., he can't be... My brother he's gone. I didn't even get to meet him. He doesn't- H-he didn't even know I existed. The monks thought I would be a distraction to him, since he needs to master all four elements they never told him about me. But why? Why would they keep me away from my own brother? And now I'll never get to see him. Ever. I might as well just let the fire benders end me. I don't have any meaning to this world now. Without my brother..., I'm nothing. Even before, I was no use! I can't even bend... I'm nothing- but Monk Hariti snaps me out of my thoughts by screaming.

"Rinkei! We need to leave now! Hurry, come with me." He finishes by pulling me leading me through many halls, finally we stop at giant door with two symbols, one of them was an air symbol, and the other a....a fire symbol? Why would there be a fire symbol? And Hariti answers my thought.

"Two symbols....air and fire, only pure airbending can open this door, with of course..., the help of a true hearted fire bender." He says observing the door in awe. But me? Yeah, my thoughts about this? We're doomed.

"Hariti, please. You think any of those fire nation soldiers have a true heart? Their heartless monsters!" I say annoyed. But Hariti just simply smiles at me, confused I  raise an eyebrow at the bald arrow headed monk.

"We don't need them, young one. It's you, who has a pure, true....heart." I raise my eyebrow even higher. I mean come on, he's just plain crazy now! I'm not a fire bender. I'm not any bender! I'm a...useless non-bender.

"Rinkei, your fire bending is powered by...your emotions." Hariti calmly states. Emotions? Seriously? Yeah, I give up. This man is pure crazy! I look at him like he's crazy, well like I've said he is crazy! But all I get is a frown from him, but it quickly turns into a glare? Is he mad? Well I soon find out, what he says breaks my heart, but Something else that I've only felt when they took me away from ever meeting my brother  Aang. Anger...

"Aang left, b-because of you! He died because of...y-you...! We told him about you and he h-hated you! He hated you f-f...for leaving him! He was so sad and filled with anger he left! It's all your fault!!" He screams. But as he sees my expression he frowns and starts to tear up. He will regret he ever said that! He has no right to say that! I wanted to be with Aang my whole life! They kept me away from him..., my own brother... I close my eyes as tears flow down my face. I throw my hands up in the air and quickly slam them down to the floor. But something else happened. Something I did. Something horrible. As I open my eyes, I can't believe what I'm seeing... flames....flames everywhere... engulfing everything..., except...thank spirits! Monk Hariti jumped out of the way just in time. I slowly stand up as I observe the hallway, and my eyes set on that same door, but it's opened. I opened it. Just like Hariti said. I look back at Hariti but..., the worst thing possible....my eyes begin to fill with tears, my vision beginning to blurr as I look at the horrifying sight in front of me. Fire nation....a fire nation soldier holding monk Hariti in a painful grip around his neck. I clench my fists as I hear that soldier's disgusting voice.

"I've never seen so, so powerful, beautiful, pure fire bending in my life! Your coming with me-" but he stops as Hariti sends a blast of air hitting that soldier's ugly face.

Right as Hariti gets out of the soldier's grasp he yells. "Run! Get into the room!" He pulls me into the room getting me into a meditating position, but I see him get dragged away by those heartless monsters as he mouths " I'm sorry" I send a blast of fire out hitting some of the soldiers, but before I can get up and run out of the room to help Hariti..., the door closes and my dark world begins.

100 years pass and Rinkei is still living in his world of darkness... but the fire nation, the monsters who took away his people, they took away Monk Hariti who acted like a father to Rinkei, those monsters who took away those Rinkei loved...have returned. They return to the door they tried to open for years but always failed, to find that very powerful boy..., Rinkei. They have been searching for years to figure out how to open that door, and they finally figured out how by a mysterious machine they built to pry open the door, and inside still sat that boy, still in his dark world. Fire lord Ozai gave Mai and her family this boy to look after when he wakes up. To train him to be a cold heartless monster just like them, but they soon will realize that their plan will fail, when Rinkei finds his family, his brother he never got to meet....Avatar Aang.
         But how will Rinkei do so, as his     memory fades when he awakes from his 
                          dark world.
