This is entirely a work of fiction. I've made this up all by myself. If anything upsets you in this story, I'd avise you to talk about it with somebody. This is an emotional story going through the last days of a girl's life, and it gets quite upsetting in some parts.
-Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK
-78% of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer are predicted to live ten or more years.
-In 2012, over 11,000 women died from breast cancer and only 73 men died from having it.
-In 2011, nearly 50,000 women were diagnosed with having the cancer.
-15% of cancer cases are breast cancer cases
-7% of cancer-stricken deaths are down to breast cancer
-81% of women with breast cancer are aged 50 or over
-An estimated 550,000 people in the UK have been diagnosed with breast cancer
These figures, are huge. There are many charities that support the research into finding a cure for breast cancer. But the money they raise, is not enough. They need more support, more money fundraised to be able to prevent shortening a person's life.
This short story follows a girl's last days on Earth. She spends her final days in the SLCK ward (a made up ward) with other girls who are just like her. These children will never be able to live their whole life, and that is ludicrous. They should be able to spend the rest of their life how they want to, instead of waiting for their death to come.
